White politicians get their information leaked by sources like "Deep Throat."

Brotha politicians get their information leaked by "Cheeks."

Sam Nunn?? thats a first hearing his name for me. They are probably "leaking" this as a test.

The only legitimate VP nominee that would make me consider not voting for Obama is Edwards.

Obama has to go center, not further left.

sounds like a dick tracy character.

Wow, some leak.

I'm not even a democrat and I knew they'd be on the list at this point.

Two southern boys?

No thanks.
Not likign either one as a potential veep.

my picks for veep remain, in no particular order, Richardson, Bloomberg, and Hagel.

webb, clark, or sebellius are my current picks.

Wow. Don't hold your breath.

Yeah, I'm going to go with Clark here. Webb is a little off kilter, but he would make the debates a hell of a ride...

McCainDemocrat 2008-06-19 11:13:08 PM
Sam Nunn?

Obama picking a 69 year old Washington insider really limits his options in regards to attacking McCain.

Not to mention that it would really piss off the LGBT Clinton backers.

RodneyToady [TotalFark] 2008-06-19 11:21:34 PM
I love Bloomberg, but no, not Bloomberg.

Richardson, yes. Clark, yes. Webb, maybe, maybe not.

They're both tests, I'm sure.

The Obama search team can't be completely ignoring the SurveyUSA numbers for an Obama/Edwards ticket. They're giving him serious consideration on that basis.

TheShavingofOccam123 [TotalFark] 2008-06-19 11:56:58 PM
Hillary, Carter, or Max Cleland.

Now those would be pokes in the eye with sharp sticks.

Step 1: Find the youngest General/Admiral in the Armed forces who has Dem leanings

Step 2: Make sure said officer is thoroughly vetted.

Step 3: profit.

McCainDemocrat 2008-06-20 12:04:36 AM
those SurveyUSA numbers are pretty much meaningless. Since John Edwards has higher name recognition than other candidates.

Remember all the states John Edwards won for John Kerry?

Hmm, and you righties have been using SUSA lately since it is the only firm that doesn't show McCain getting blown out. It is over, dude. You backed yet another loser.

Edwards is an ambulance chaser. Why anyone, anywhere, would want a personal injury attorney anywhere near policy making decisions is beyond me. Would you vote for your local personal injury lawyer?

He's a professional liar.

Richardson is a hispanic and the other two are Republicans. Not going to happen. It will be a white male Democrat.

I really hope it's Webb or Biden. Both are good attack dog types (Edwards came off as a major pussy in my eyes in his debate with Cheney in '04)who would allow Obama to continue with his "higher ground" approach. Both have good cred as far as experience but Webb helps in a swing state.

EZ1923: Webb is a little off kilter, but he would make the debates a hell of a ride...

I would love Webb, but I know there was some flap about misogyny or some such in one of his books that would probably be used to divide the female vote from Obama. I don't recall what it was as Macaca made a much bigger splash.

It isn't the same. Obama can win on his own. Edwards can bring the working poor. Poor guy, you will lose in a landslide.

A professional liar? Because he took it to corporations? Every politician is a professional liar. What makes Edwards worse? Because he advocated for the common man?

Remember when Jim Johnson's name got leaked. How did that work out?

Anywho, Wes Clark or Anthony Zinni if he wants a military dude. Tim Kaine or Schweitzer if he wants a governor dude.

He took it to corporations that had absolutly 0 liability in the drain pool disemboweling.... AND WON. You think he was upset about getting his $8 million off of that case.

Or how about suing doctors based on junk science AND WINNING (and making more millions). Sure, he can win bogus malpractice suits, does that make him any good? I'd say "NO" and then point out the high cost of healthcare.

You think he did that for the little guy? That's BS.

The more I think about it, the more I think Obama should pick Tom Hanks for VP.

At least with Tom Hanks, people can say they admire the guy AND can list off two or three accomplishments he's made in his life.

All Obama has going for him is beating Jeri Ryan's husband in an election, and Bill Clinton's wife in national primaries.

Whatsleft 2008-06-20 12:24:45 AM
Polls show Edwards would make a really strong ticket. I don't care for him too much, but VP would be pretty good.

Attempts to portray Obama overthrowing the biggest non-incumbent lock on a presidential nomination in history as somehow not impressive are absolutely pathetic.

Actually it was Alan Keyes that he beat (I had the pleasure of voting for Obama). That said it isn't more impressive beating Keyes in Illinois anyhow.

Chain of events

1. Company makes drain pool cover. Instructions describe how to correctly install the drain pool cover and include a friggin warning on the box.

2. Company sells drain pool cover to a Wake county public pool.

3. Drain is installed properly

4. County has daily inspection requirement for the pools to check drain covers.

5. Drain cover protective cap is removed

6. Girls sits on drain cover and disembowels herself

7. ?????????

8. Drain cover manufacturer is liable.

OK, here's your challenge. Please explain 7 to me.

Edwards would certainly round out a "two empty suits" ticket.

This has got to be the stupidest meme ever. How many times does the guy's resume have to be read to you? Repeating such things just weakens any other, more rational and persuasive arguments you might have.

Can anyone give me a good reason why Clark should not be Obama's pick? The only reasons I've heard are

-he's not a great campaigner (though he has more experience now)
-won't add to the electoral map (who does anymore?)
-he's not Hillary Clinton (those people will never be satisfied)

Okay. That's his ONE achievement: beating the despised, shrill symbol of a power-grabbing former administration, who no one in her own party could say was the best choice for President.

I'll even spot you his two books and his chair of the Harvard Law Review. Other than that? Pffft.

Could someone please photoshop the "sharp knees" guy saying "Obama is an empty suit, he is way below my standards."

The fact that he beat a Clinton is pretty damned impressive in and of itself in my opinion. Not that it should be a reason to vote for him, but still.

Jim Webb
Ted Strickland
Chuck Hagel (wont happen but interesting...might make center right "values voters" cross over)
Bill Richardson(New Mexico not huge electorate vote wise but maybe hispanic vote carries a couple other southern states like NV or AZ)
Janet Nepalitano, Kathleen Sebelius, etc.

DarthBrooks [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 12:42:28 AM
Ed Rendell.

He's a governor, and was totally behind Hillary. It would bridge a bazillion gaps in his party.
