That is a great song to listen to, but the video is seventeen shades of retard. I remember thinking that back when this came out.

BoneStorm 2008-06-19 10:09:54 PM
i much prefer "One Part Lullaby" anyway.

HotLonelyTeenageGirl [TotalFark] 2008-06-19 11:13:23 PM
this song was a piece of contrived mid-90's garbage when it came out, and it sucks even more now.

I mean, green? Really?

Meh, I was rocking silverchair - tomorrow around that time. Still a great song too

Oh my god I hated this song so f*cking much when it came out and I don't hate it any less today, die for reminding me of it.

This makes Jesus Jones seem like Slayer.
Awful.

This makes me think of the movie Kids. And that makes me think of smacking someone in the the face with the wheels of a skateboard.

/where's my skateboard?

This song is nearly perfect.

That might be the best analogy I've heard so far this week.

Crazy. This is like the most polarizing song I've seen linked in some time.

Pencil me in the "likes this song" camp. We attack at dawn.

That's still one of my favorite albums of all-time. It aged well.

this kinda band is what made me stop listening to music for 10 years...

deadsanta 2008-06-20 05:47:06 AM
So-so song, pretty much a one-off for Kids iirc, and I hated that film (loved some of the performances though, Chloe Sevigny's in particular). Also, as has been mentioned: Contender for worst video of the 90's by a real artist.

Not the lowest point for Lou Barlow, but man, Dinosaur Jr. and Sebadoh had much better stuff.

So, what brought you back? Was it Franz Ferdinand's You Could Have It So Much Better, or maybe Mariah Carey's The Emancipation of Mimi? Let's not even talk about Coldplay.

There is suck in every decade; Lou Barlow didn't commit practically any of it, relatively, no matter what your musical taste.

Great song, weird movie.

viccellini 2008-06-20 06:10:57 AM
It seems to me that the only people who don't like this song are metalheads, or Britney Spears fans. I happen to think it's a good song. It's sloppy in sections, but it's good. It's dark, and slinky, and moody, and I like that, damnit.

There are people who DON'T like this song?
That boggles my mind.

Gulper Eel [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 08:24:01 AM
It's one of those songs you like the first time you hear it in a long time. The next time you might still like it, but after three plays you remember why you were sick of it.

Wait two years and repeat.

irockalot 2008-06-20 08:41:21 AM
Awesome. I never cared for Sebadoh, but Folk Implosion was great.

Jesus Jones wasn't that bad, it's just that that one song became one of the worst, most overplayed tunes next to Fine Young Cannibals "She Drives Me Crazy."

There is no more surefire of a way to kill a band forever than to record a song like that.

/Of course, they and EMF ripped off the Shamen's early sampledelic rock mayhem for the MTV crowd.

You should check out the acoustic version of "Mehcanical Man" by F.I., great song.

I gotta disagree on Sebadoh, though. Great farking band.

My word I hate this song. And this video. And Lou Barlow. And kids.

Yep.

I do like Good Morning, Captain, though.

But it's originally from an infinitely better record than the Kids soundtrack.

I had a MASSIVE crush on Lou Barlow..oh yeah, I still do.

/lurves teh Sebadoh

Awesome. I wasn't even aware that some people didn't like this song. They are incomprehensibly alien and must be destroyed.

You confirm my suspicion that the only people who liked this song were massive drama queens prone to butt-hurt. It doesn't sound moody, it sounds LAZY to me. This has to be the most lethargic song ever made.
