apparently Im the only slipknot fan here. While they're not lamb of god or chimaira, their last album was fantastic and their first album was something totally different than what was current at the time. they put on a hell of a live show, and are certainly worth my dollars any time they come near Indy. I could care less that hot topic kids wear their shirts and about the near icp-level fanatacism some of their fans hold... as far as im concerned, they're a kick ass metal band.

I second that, saw them a few years ago when they headlined the second stage at Ozzfest, damn good live show. Going to see them and Disturbed (with about a dozen other bands) in Pittsburgh in August.

They're not even in the same genre as those almighty suck fests. Despite appearances, Slipknot actually makes music and not just noise. I'm not a big fan, but Corey Taylor is an honest to goodness vocalist.

The show rocks. I can't believe the amount of energy those guys exude when playing. I first saw them at ozzfest when they were on the main stage, later saw on the second stage and finally when they did the tour with shadows fall and lamb of god. Unfortunately theres next to no metal shows in the midwest this summer, all my bands must be working on new albums... Last show I was able to catch was Heaven Shall Burn, playing in louisville a couple months ago. Have fun at the show dude.

People who consider metal music noise and refuse to give it a chance, mostly. Ironically, the most open minded music fans I know are metal fans first, and other music second. me, I'll be the first guy to listen to dr. dre or stevie ray vaughn, then throw in megadeth. But most people arent interested in metal and ignor it or rip on it, which is fine with me because it keeps the shows cheap and the fans that show up are dedicated to the music.

Are you serious? different styles obviously, but I can hardly call corey taylor a singer; he screams his lyrics. granted Theres a little singing (see "The nameless" off subliminal verses) But by and large, you're wrong. Now in stone sour, yeah he sings. but whats the difference between randy blythe screaming and CT screaming? not much other than pitch.

But calling lamb of god and chimaira "suck fests" tells me you're not much of a metal fan. Chimaira's last 3 albums have all been musically pushing the envelope (listen to "six" off the last album)and Lamb of God is entering pantera territory, making straight groove metal.. I don't know a single metal head that doesnt love both those bands.

eh...have you ever seen them live? Like I said, I'm not the biggest fan, but I was entertained by them at a live musical performance. That makes them not completely horrible in my book.

Saw them live a couple of times, never disappointed.

Mainstream is afraid of Slipknot due to the fact, they are just too scary for the MTV generation of losers.

The only good thing to come from this band recently was when their drummer produced the newest 3 Inches of Blood album, which kicks ass.

Their first album was good, Iowa had its moments and Vol. 3 was terrible. they are continuously becoming what they set out not to be. Slipknot to me was never about 'singing' that is what Stone Sour was correct?. I think its great for bands to broaden their music and that is what Corey decided to do, and for that I give him credit. All that aside I am really disapointed that they are going the same route as VOL3. That wasn't Slipknot to me. I know bands can grow and change but another sensative Slipknot album? I thinks knot.

big meh. i won't say they suck, but definitely not my thing. it's too bad, because unlike most of the typical mall metal bands, they actually have some talent. they just need to write better songs.
