"I feel it is bad judgement to run Al Jazeera because Al Jazeera English, a clone of Al Jazeera International, by the way, is not given to always telling the truth," wrote an individual whose name was redacted by Burlington Telecom. "Although I have not viewed it myself," that person continued, "I have it on good authority that its bias against America is at the root of this dishonesty."

What a complete and utter Farktard. Wanna bet his "good authority" is Rush O'Hannity?

Al Jazeera international/english is a very good news source. You guys have no idea

Please bring in a national health care plan for the impoverished and uneducated, possibly led by Dr Kevorkian. It's the only humane thing to do at this point

Farking pathetic. If women weren't turned off by my horrible personality, I'd date a ME chick just to spite them.

Actually, your personality might be perfect. Go make some friends with ME students here in student visas and they'll help you out.

You can get it online for free. Go here

LiveStation (^)

Or there's a pay service here:

JumpTV (^)

I watch it all the time. It's pretty good and informative, actually. An angle you won't get from this part of the world.

You want to see some sick shiat? Look up Al Hurra, the US funded Middle East tv station.

/it's not the pro-US/pro-west programming you are probably thinking of

Heh, it took me the longest time to get my mom and dad to try middle eastern food. My mom was convinced she'd get fed rats and beetles.

MAD TV had an over-the-top spoof of Al Jazeera English.

Look on the bright side, they will be first on the scene with any Osama tapes or Al Queda statements. They always seem to have the upper hand in reporting stuff from them.

My mother always says she does not want to hear about "those scary Muslims" anytime I drop in to visit my family and my brother and I discuss world events. I gave her a book of poetry by Rumi...she read it until she realized he was Muslim.

Call of Duty 4 had their TV station to shoot up and destroy. I farking love that part of the game.

Well, probably nothing to do with the fact that Al Qaeda mails their videos directly to them. I'm sure that if Al Qaeda mailed Osama and Al Zawahri videos to ABCNews, they'd be the first to report about it, too.

Al Jazeera (new window)

It's a news website that features streaming video. As foreigners, they don't use the word news the same as in America. To them, news means newly received or noteworthy information, esp. about recent or important events

Yeah, kinda stupid the reasoning he gave for leaving. I thought he was a pretty good presence at AJ/E, actually. Oh well. It's too bad David Frost is such a crusty old goat, because he's awesome otherwise. They need some more star power there.

Al-Jazeera is the world's biggest completely independent news station they don't have to answer to governments or stockholders just newsjunkies who send private donations.

It's actually very good and unbiased, CNN International showed segments from Al-Jazeera about 30% of their broadcast leading up to the Iraqi war, I was impressed by the journalism standards that we ourselves used to have 50 or 60 years ago...

Ohhhhhhhhhh.... I get it. Your joke is that MSNBC doesn't help promote the "oh, noooozzzzzzz, the turrists!!!" as much as Fox News, so you compare them to al-Jazerra! Awesome!!! Did you think of that yourself, or did Bill O or Rush help you with your homework?

Um, have you ever WATCHED al-Jazerra English? If so, what are your specific criticisms? Or is it just that someone ELSE told you that it is bad?

Do you think that if CNN or Fox got the al Qaeda videos and audio tapes first, they wouldn't play them?

Jesus people, intelligent people can and should listen to a variety of sources of information to take from it what they can and form their own, well informed, opinions on what is likely to be the truth. Only getting your news from Al-Jazerra probably isn't the best idea. Just like only getting your news from CNN or Fox or MSNBC or the BBC or your local paper probably isn't a good idea.

Only getting information from a source already biased toward your sense of beliefs only makes you a more ignorant person re-enforcing your preexisting beliefs rather than a thinking, rational person seeking real knowledge.

So what if Al-Jazerra has an anti-American bias? Wanting to impose censhorship of information from your fellow Americans is a thousand times more un-American than anything Al-Jazerra could ever say if you believe that America is about freedom and liberty.

Al Jazeera English isn't anti-American, it's just more of a "there's a world outside of America" kind of channel, and it reflects that in the way it frames its stories.

Ah, but obviously I did look up other sources to correct myself, eh? After posting it still bothered me that it just didn't look right, so I went to other sources to research, and then learning my mistake I posted a public notice of my error and correction. So, now I just validated WHY it is important to not rely on one source. It's a lesson to all...
