They actually did at one point, as hard as that is to believe. He made a ton of money years back, and that's probably why he's ok with piracy now. He's losing such little money due to illegal downloading at this point, since no one wants his music now, that it's easy for him to come out and say this.

Ask him this back when he was actually making money off his music and see what his answer would have been.

Say what you will about him, you always know where he stands on something. You may disagree with his position, you may think he's an idiot for holding it, but you are never in doubt as to what he thinks. Unlike pretty much anybody else in that godforsaken business or even life in general.

As much of a douchebag he is, his argument for stealing music is a relatively good one.

Artists should strive to get their music out to as many people as possible, because that in turn drives the real money making aspect of playing music. You can steal a song off of the internet, but you can't steal the experience of a live show.
