He has sucked ass since the Tha Carter.

He went from being the best rapper in the world to being the biggest joke I have ever heard. It is sad really.

It achieved blockbuster numbers despite being heavily bootlegged and leaked on the Internet; past leaks of material for the CD caused Lil Wayne's label, Universal Motown, to delay its release several times.

How could this happen if downloaders were rapidly bringing about the end?

Lil Wayne is a shiatty lyricist too. Damn, he still writes like he did as a kid:

A millionaire, I'm a young money millionaire
Tougher than nigerian hair
My criteria compared to your career this isn't fair
I'm a venereal disease like menstrual, bleed
Through the pencil and leak on the sheet of the tablet
In my mind cause I don't write shiat cause I ain't got time
Cause my seconds, minutes, hours go to the all mighty dolla
And the all mighty power of that ch, ch, ch, ch choppa
Sista brotha son daughta fatha mothafark a coppa
Got tha maserati dancin' on the bridge pussy poppin'
Tell tha coppers hahahaha you can't catch em you can't stop em
I go by them goon rules if you can't beat em then you pop em
You can't man em then you mop em,
You can't stand em then you drop em,
You pop em cause we pop em like Orville Redenbacher!!
Mothafarka I'm ILL

A million here a million there
Sicilian biatch with long hair
Wit coke in the derriere
Like smokin the thinest air
I open the lamborgini hopin' them crackers see me
Like look at that bastard weezy
He's a beast he's a dog he's a mothafarkin problem
OK your a goon but what's a goon to a goblin
Nothin, Nothin you ain't scarin' nothin
On some faggy bullshiat call him Denise Rodman
Call me whatcha want biatch, call me on my sidekick
Never answer when its private, DAMN i hate a shy biatch
Don't you hate a shy biatch?
Yea I ate a shy biatch
She ain't shy nomore she changed her name to me biatch
hahahaha yea nubian that's my biatch
So when she ask for the money when you through don't be surprised biatch
It ain't trickin' if you got it
But you like a biatch wit no ass you ain't go shiat
Mothafarker I'm ill, not sick
And im ok but my watch sick, yea my drop sick, yea my glock sick and my knot thick
IM It!
Mothafarka IM Ill!

Yea.
See..
Thay say I'm rappin like Big, Jay and Tupac, Andre 3000 where is Erykah Baduh at? Who dat?
Who that say they gonna beat Lil' Wayne
My name ain't BIC, but I keep that flame man
Who dat one
Dat do dat boy
Yall knew dat
True dat swallow
And I be the shiat now you got loose bowels
I don't owe you like two vowels
But I would like for you to pay me by the hour
Haha, and I'd rather be pushing flowers
Than to be in the penn sharing showers
Ha, Tony told us this world was ours
and the Bible told us every girl was sour
dont play in the garden and don't smell her flower
call me Mr. Carter or Mr. Lawn Mower
boy I got so many biatches like I'm Michael Lowry
even Gwen Stefani said she couldn't doubt me
Mothafarka I say like fake shiat without me
Chrome lips poking out the coup look like its pawting
I do what I do and you do what you can do about it biatch
I could turn a crack rock into a mountain, dare me
Don't you compare me cuz there ain't nobody near me
They don't see me, but they hear me
They don't feel me, but they fear me.
IM ILLIE

Okay.. as TF's self-appointed rap defendant, I must let the general Fark public know that as rap fans, this is the exact rap we DON'T WANT promoted, aired, played or known by the general public.

As pointed out, and as it will continue to be pointed out, his lyrics are horrid, the messages wrong, and the overall tone is negative.

Please listen to good rap.
yes, there is good rap.

I really wish that rappers with this much publicity, and this much touch in the "hood" would try to flip the scene and promote positive lifestyles and doing something with your life. Sure the rap sometimes reflects what's going on in the hood, but you'd be a fool to think that the rap doesn't also heavily influence the urban communities.

Rap and Hip-Hop are different things people. Bash rap all you want.Hip-hop is about self improvement. Rap is about bragging.

Rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal, MC's spit rhymes to uplift their people.

Codeine tends to impair brain function

And save the "Only this kind of rap is garbage. The kind of rap I listen to is far better" schtick. I see this a lot in Fark threads regarding hip hop and I've never understood it. You can post a list of your "real hip hop" favorites from Brand Nubian to the Lords of the underground and it won't make an ounce of difference.

Stop worrying about what other people think about the music you like. If they hate hiphop, let them hate hiphop. It's their loss.

Justifying your taste in music is nothing but a sign of insecurity

That's the thing, the majority of non-rap/hip hop listeners are being heavily exposed to Wayne, and 50 and whoever the hell is popular right now. In turn, guys like KRS One and other hip hop artists who aren't rapping about ho's and bling and the size of their rims are being bunched into the same group.

I can't stand the generic radio crap, but I'm quite the fan of KRS and Last Emp and most other real hip hop artists. It took some prodding by my friends, but I finally did give up the "lumping" and found out there is a lot of stuff out there that is quite good.

I don't know, I didn't buy Wayne's album, but I heard his "Lollipop" remix on the radio, and he turned the end into a public service announcement. I thought it was pretty entertaining when he said "And wear a latex, cuz you don't want that late text sayin' that 'I'm late, Tex'"

Quoting KRS One is sort of irrelevant. Despite his enormous stature in hip hop, he's the genre's biggest hypocrite. No one takes him seriously when he raps about friends, because he's dissed all of his. He's got an ego larger than Lil Wayne's album sales.

Noah's Arcade 2008-06-18 08:20:25 AM
Is he still on Cash Money Records, or did he finally sign with a legitimate record company? In either case, it's godawful shiat. He and his label mates filled a void in the mainstream around '98-'99, but 99.9% of everything I've heard of his sounds like a hyperactive retard winding the crank of a broken jack-in-the-box.

I remember when he or Juvenile or B.G. would have one hit single, and then you listen to the rest of the album and go "what the fark was that shiat?". What's amazing is that all those awful throwaway garbage tracks sound EXACTLY like today's #1 singles.

Seriously, I'm baffled how anyone enjoys the shiat. It sounds like a 3-year old pressed the "demo" button on a Casio keyboard and then threw it down the f*cking stairs.

Today's hip-hop is geared towards two kinds of people. 1) Stupid drunk clubhopping white sluts, and 2) Guys like King Douchenozzle Von Crunk.

In the late 90s I thought it couldn't get any worse than when I'd see Puffy in one of his sample-raping overproduced ripoffs on MTV. Boy, was I f*cking wrong.

Bullshiat, the blueprint was one of the best rap albums ever. Alot of new shiat is shiat, but just because alot of people never got past KRS-One and the other overrated old fellows doesn't mean everything new is shiat.

Just prettymuch everything on the radio or mtv or bet.

Yeah for Rhymesayers and the midwest rap scene. Anyone who wants to hear good musical hip hop needs to look in that direction. Atmosphere is one of the best around, and my favorite hip hop artist of all time. Also check out Eyedea and Abilities, carnage, POS, and Musab.

I defend rap on Fark all the time, and I think Wayne is great. The album is actually a proper album, sequenced to be played as such, and he deserves his success. I knew Lollipop would be the jam of the summer the second I heard it.

It's interesting to see people lumping Weezy in with crap like Fiddy and 2pac. I guess I ignored him for a long time because he's got a silly name, but then again so does Big Boi. Once I gave him a chance though I really love a lot of his stuff. Some of the most consistently creative and clever lyrics and rhymes I've heard.

My iPod's full of Outkast, the Roots, 7L & Esoteric, Army of the Pharoahs, Beatnuts, Aesop Rock, Clipse, The Coup, Blackalicious, Wu-Tang, Heiroglyphics and I think Lil Wayne's music fits right in with that stuff.

That said, I think Carter III's got more weak tracks than previous albums. The good half's great though.

"It's a new game and I'm the coach like Avery
Leave it to the flow we getting dough like a bakery
I don't really want to but these nubians making me
Put a motherfarker on ice like the maple leaves
That's a hockey team and I ain't on no hockey team
But I'm a champion where's the farking Rocky theme?
Damn rest in peace Applo Creed
I'm a monster everyday is Halloween"

-older track, but how can you argue with that?

Now I know it's cool for backpack rap nerds to hate on any rapper that's popular but that doesn't give you the grounds to dismiss the work of hiphop's most transcendent figure. Is he the greatest ever? For my money, no and I guess you can call him a little overrated but to call him crap and compare him to 50 cent is farking dumb.

And on the topic of wayne, while he has flashes of brilliance he's put out way too much garbage to be seriously considered a great mc. Most the shiat he puts out these days is him getting high, grabbing a mic and throwing a bunch of punchlines together. Wayne does have talent but he has no focus. The carter 3 was decent at best and much of that was due to the production, not the actual rhymes.

Sometimes I wonder if all the critical love for wayne isn't a case of the emperors new clothes

Tony Stark: most transcendent figure

Heh...I knew as soon as I typed that it would get somebody riled up. I hate to threadjack, but I really love music and since so many people worship 2pac I've tried and tried to understand why. I've listened to his music, both when it came out and again recently and I just don't get the love. And I wanted to like it. What's 1 or 2 tracks that should make me a believer?

And I agree with you that Wayne's put out a lot of crap, but even after I deleted all the bad songs off my iPod I had about 100 great tracks left. I can't think of more than 2 or 3 other artists I can say that about.

Tony Stark 2008-06-18 10:49:22 PM
harpo: What's 1 or 2 tracks that should make me a believer?

I don't know what you're tastes are or what appeals to you as a listener so obviously I can't give you a list of tracks that will instantly make you a pac stan. There are the obvious feel-good message tracks like Brenda's got a baby, Dear Mama and Keep ya head up...personally those aren't my favorite pac tracks for various reasons.

If I had to narrow it down to personal favorites I'd throw out Smile ft. Scarface, Heartz of men, Got my mind made up ft. Method Man, Redman, Kurupt and Daz Dillenger and To live and die in L.A (best listened to while cruising in your car)

Pac recorded so damn much that it takes a bit of time to find the real gems.

Damn a hip-hop thread that actually had intelligent conversations about the genre instead of a bunch of people who don't know about real hip-hop trashing the whole genre just cause of mainstream flashy ringtone rappers. I'm impressed. Lil Wayne has skill, but he will never be a legend. He isn't near any of the former greats. Compare Big L to Wayne and you'll realize that his "greatest rapper" bs means nothing. He could have been a great but he went in the wrong direction. Lollipop proves it, the genre really doesn't need another T-Pain style song, it's getting really annoying.

MetalGator 2008-06-19 05:43:34 AM
And they're all in my Facebook network, little twerps.

Rap pretty much died in 2003 as far as I'm concerned. Ludacris got stale, Eminem fell off, and then ringtone rap was born. Only new group I keep up with La Coka Nostra. And I'll get Detox if it ever comes out, but rap is just stupid nursery rhymes over dance beats now.
