I understand it's cool to hate Coldplay, but I think they're actually pretty good. The new album is decent, so I don't understand all the hatred. I guess it stems from the undying desire to be nonconformist.

Hmmmm... this is a hard one. Let me go ahead and call you as a troll; though to be honest, I'm still not sure. I mean, there's no accounting for taste, but still, I'd like to believe that there aren't people who like overly-generic adolescence in packaged form.

/8 of 10.

They are decent musicians. Not great. They do nothing for me.

Damn. They didn't cancel it?

If this is an asteroid-related delay I would be happy.

production issues? How hard is it to plug a guitar into an amp?

Perhaps "production issues" means "the guys who actually play the instruments behind the curtain all had to go to rehab"

Ditto, though I think they've gotten a bit less interesting with each new album.

Boring music written by a whiny little jackass.

I'm a fan of stuff that isn't "GRARRRGGHHH HEAVY METAL!!!!" all the time, but Coldplay is a bit too far on the soft side of the spectrum for me. There's nothing that makes me stand up and take notice. Nothing really interesting and different done with any of the instruments.

Kinda like Dane Cook, a somewhat talented act that's okay once in awhile, that gets ridiculous hype and fans. I just don't see what the big deal is.

/Muse, The Strokes, Foo, The Music, Kings of Leon, Flyleaf, The Shins, and Filter are my favorite currently playing bands.

I heard Chris Martin wants to be flown in on a pink animatronic unicorn.

Coldplay is elevator music.

And the only elevators that should play it are the elevators in buildings for the deaf. And if they don't have any such buildings, they should build them. But they also shouldn't have speakers, because I'm sure a hearing enabled person would have to go into the building to work or visit a deaf friend, for instance, and a PA system would be necessary for announcements, and we wouldn't want them to hear any Coldplay because then the lead story on that night's news would be how somebody flipped out and decided to murder an entire building full of deaf people, and how could somebody do such a thing?!?

Agree regarding Dane Cook. I saw Kings of Leon last week with Pearl Jam. They were alright but PJ is on an entirely different level of awesomeness.

I do give him points for being on Extras.

I like Coldplay now and again, but the new single is just repetitive, redundant, boring, and repetitive. It sounds completely uninspired and unoriginal and is certainly not deserving of the hype its been given.

Coldplay can do good; this isn't it.

I thought "Politik" was a pretty good song; it's the one they performed at the Grammy's a few years ago. Everything else they've done is pretty "meh" (I took an ex-GF to a show of theirs a few years ago...not bad but again pretty "meh" when in concert).

To be fair, when you've been able to see acts like The Flaming Lips, Muse, and others that know how to put on a concert, and sound really good doing it, most live performances now bore me to shiat.

Industry insiders say the band is waiting on completion of 50-foot-long inflatable douchebag that they intend to fly from the stage as a sort of beacon to let their fans know who is coming.

NOT on their way to a Coldplay show.

From what I've told, most everybody's live performances pale compared to Muse.

/I'm seeing them next time they visit the states... even if I have to murder someone

Like a huge war flag, but way gayer.

Agreed. I would recommend Muse's most recent release, "H.A.A.R.P.", which is a CD and DVD of recent concerts at Wembley Stadium. It's mind-blowing. Once that new album comes out, whenever it may be, I'm getting tickets no matter what.

THESE. I have some Coldplay and it's sort of like ambient background noise with words.

I'm no fan of Coldplay, and have never bought an album or even intentionally listened to a song all the way through. But say what you will about them, they're not actively offensive -- unlike some other bands, which shall remain nameless.
