No comment from Chuck Norris?

Was at the "game" last night. Def was the loudest I would ever hear Mets fans cheering for the rangers.

We all kinda had a feeling the game was gonna be called when the warning track started bleeding into the outfield by about 5 feet or so.

And to add onto that a car burned to the ground in the parking lot during the storm.

The crowd went wild when the press booth called the owners of 3 license plate numbers to head to the booth.

Guess Mets fans needed to cheer for someone.

Skail [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:15:43 PM
Heh. You know, I hate baseball and think that most professional athletes (at least, the high-profile ones) are stuck-up turds. This, however, is cool - nice to see some of them can have a little fun and still enjoy themselves.

andrewabc 2008-06-15 05:15:51 PM
So when a game like this one gets rained out, do people get a refund on their tickets?

Danger Avoid Death 2008-06-15 05:16:18 PM
I guess the Rangers didn't want to let us down, didn't want to fool around and ... you know the rest.

TheJoe03 [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:17:40 PM
That was really cool, good to see people not taking the game so seriously for once. I'm also pretty surprised that the Rangers aren't totally sucking ass this year and are actually giving me a little hope.

LosinMySenses [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:19:05 PM
This is why baseball should have some girls playing. I mean if they had them doing the slip-n-slide instead of guys then the crowd would be ALOT louder

I'm sorry but this dude from somethingawful's forum just pwned everyone last year. This monster is over 500 feet long. Truly a spectacle of drunken engineering.

Yeah. Nothing worse than people having fun and not enjoying themselves.

mikaloyd 2008-06-15 05:23:50 PM
The best part was after security told them to quit and they took one more curtain call slide. 2nd best was when the Mets fans started chanting for the Rangers.

andrewabc: So when a game like this one gets rained out, do people get a refund on their tickets?

You can trade them in for tickets to another game. I did hear that last night's tickets wouldn't be honored for today's doubleheader.

The only time I heard about refunds given out were games that were rescheduled after 9/11.

oukewldave 2008-06-15 05:27:52 PM
So how exactly is that a treat for the fans? I don't see the fans doing it. I guess when you are drunk and wet, it may be fun and entertaining...
/ Same applies for women.

I know what you mean Skail. They PLAY a GAME for a living. If they actually had a JOB they'd understand why the rest of us look so pissed off all the time.

Generalization, I know. But have you taken public transprtation lately?

baka-san [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:32:50 PM
my favorite part was the ranger's GM saying basically "what the hell, it didn't hurt anything and and gave everybody a little fun"

Seit_N_Zounde [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:33:42 PM
Stay Classy NY, seriously very cool of them to chant for the opposition even if it was just for killing the boredom.

And a hot plate! [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:34:17 PM
Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. And sometimes it rains.

Think about that for a while.

carnifex2005 2008-06-15 05:34:29 PM
I loved the "Let's go Rangers" chant the Mets fans were giving them.

Skail [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:34:46 PM
CaptainBeer: Generalization, I know. But have you taken public transprtation lately?

No. No, no, no... no I haven't. I ride my bike most places and use the car to get groceries. I try to avoid contact with other people when at all possible.

Nhojwolfe [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 05:36:12 PM
I came in here expecting pics of hot girls on slip n slides, I left dissapionted.

\\Am currently on a slip n slide blah blah blah

Yanks_RSJ 2008-06-15 05:37:08 PM
The Mets should have been the ones out there. They're such an uptight team, would have done them good to loosen up a little bit.

emilyek_1 2008-06-15 05:51:07 PM
At age 18 I did this once in an Astroturf stadium, with a really large sheet of plastic.

If you every slip-and-slide on a large scale, as an adult, my advice is to not forget to take your car keys out of your front pocket.

Goopotato 2008-06-15 06:03:06 PM
I was expecting Milton Bradley to tear a hammy or something.

Hey, if he can get injured while arguing with an ump...

DayBreakBoys17 2008-06-15 06:05:25 PM
that was WAY more entertaining than an actual baseball game.

LlamaGirl 2008-06-15 06:38:32 PM

demotivate 2008-06-15 07:43:05 PM
and where the hell where the mets? the rangers are slip n' sliding all over their field and they can't be bothered to join in on the good times? those guys don't even know how to have fun right.

Ow My Balls 2008-06-15 08:25:01 PM
This happened on 8-8-88, the first (unofficial) night game at Wrigley Field. I think Jody Davis, Keith Moreland, maybe Sutcliffe? A bunch of 'em went slip-n-sliding and received fines.

/08-08-08 is coming soon!

when i saw the clip i braced myself for the news that milton bradley suffered a dislocated shoulder

/best OF on my team
//still in 2nd out of 13 somehow

Stray Slacker 2008-06-15 09:06:44 PM
Not sure if it was intentional or coincidental, but yesterday was the NY Rangers anniversary of winning the Stanley Cup on June 14, 1994. So the "Let's go Rangers" chant had sort of a pretty cool double significance there.

mialynneb [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-06-15 09:10:19 PM
That was awesome.

Coincidentally - my friends and I put a pool liner in and my friend did a penguin all the down to the deep end and dislocated his shoulder and had to go to the ER. Dumbass.

EL_FABREZ 2008-06-15 10:21:11 PM
Exponentially better than the "Wrigley field" slip and slid that's on youtube.
