There are a lot of nerdy teens that can do this.

On another note, there are "cubing forums"? I now know there are worse basement dwellers than Farkers out there.

Ya, but can he do it faster than Amy Winehouse can do a hit of crack?
Now that... that would be impressive.

The Rubik's Cube isn't as tasty.

Read carefully, it's a FOUR-BY-FOUR Rubik's Cube.

It all depends the type of bread. Spongy, yucky, white bread creates a lot of drag and slows the knife down way too much. I'll pick a good-quality whole grain every time.
Give me that, and a jar of Goober Grape, and I'll make Cube-Boy cry.

jess07 2008-06-15 04:36:18 PM
It's longer than expected because it's a 4x4 instead of the normal 3x3 whose record is under 10 seconds

I solved a Rubik's Cube in as much time as it takes to slice open a plastic package.

bah, I can do it faster, I dissasemble, then reassemble the cube. it's the simplest and fastest method I reckon, plus you get breaks stuff sort of.

folks hate when I do that.

Better than me, one of my ex's made me practice doing that until I got it right. I would have much rather been making a PB+J sammich.

It took me many botched attempts to get it right, but I'm happy to say I spent a LOT of time working on it (high school is nice when the girl next door is literally the girl next door.)

For those of you who think you're in a dead end job, or your ex was a lying cheating biatch/bastard, or you just got turned down for a car loan, or your dog just got ran over by a semi, at least this doesn't describe you:

Many knew each other from previous competitions or had chatted over the Internet on cubing forums.

Have a great day!

If I wanted to assemble a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I would have walk to the store to buy peanut butter, and jelly first. All told it would be about 45 minutes. So his time was pretty good, huh?

I'm more interested in the sandwich over the pointless "Cube solving" exercise.

Githerax 2008-06-15 05:17:47 PM
I've done this before, it's not as simple as it seems:

Get plate, get knife, get glass, get napkin
Get bread, get PB, get Jelly, get milk
Access bread, select two slices, place on plate, close bread
Access PB, spread on bread, close PB
Access jelly, spread on bread, close jelly
Open milk, pour milk
Put away bread, PB, jelly, milk

Meh. One time my brother got a Rubik's cube and was determined to find out how to solve it. He went online and within minutes found a formula on Google. As it turns out, it's not so hard, does not require any reasoning whatsoever, and can be done fairly quickly by anyone who knows the formula. Jigsaw puzzles are harder than this.

Show me a kid who can put together a 500 pc jigsaw puzzle before I can make a pbj sandwich!

Yeah, there is a formula. It does require reasoning, and is still challenging, especially when trying to do it fast. Also, this was 4x4 cube, much harder.

If by "reasoning" you mean "make sure the white middle square is facing you" and "get one side" then sure.

4x4 cube has a formula, too. It may generally take longer but it's as simple as following 5-step instructions

Did you actually solve a rubik's cube yourself or did you just read about it? There is a big difference in solving a rubik's cube once while having color coded instruction manual in front of you and being able to solve a randomly shuffled cube quickly every time.

I actually solved it myself after having read the formula on a website and doing no more than memorizing.. what was it? up, down, left, left, until you see a white L and then 3 moves to solve or so?

It's been a few years but the instructions were not color coded.

Hmm.. That's not how I recall it, but there are different ways. Anyway, you should break it out and see how fast you can solve it. I can solve one in under 2 minutes.

Ah, good question. That's why I specified Goober Grape brand. It's got the peanut butter already in the jar with the jelly in these festive and delicious little stripes.

There is some controversy within the league* now as to whether Goober Grape, or any other "pre-mixed formulation of ingredients" is allowable. Some competitions allow it, some don't, some will only allow it during time trials to impress the crowds and news cameras.

Crunchy peanut butter is still allowed in the rule book, but has been unofficially banned ever since Takeo Ishimata fractured his ulna on an unexpectedly large clump of peanuts during a competition at the Kansas State Fair in 2002. He was airlifted to Rural Metro Hospital and his arm was set within two hours but, even after years of therapy, he has never been able to return to competing at the national level. Now, he mostly does color commentary for ESPN.
