Drinking and driving in those parts of town was not illegal, as in no "open container" law. That's right, you could legally drive around drinking beer, hurricanes, whatever, so long as you didn't exceed the BAC limit. Don't know if that's still true.

They're still in operation, but the stipulation of the open container on the daquiri is that the lid has to be intact (no straw in it). It's too bad that lid is so hard to lift on and replace without anybody knowing...

I believe that some states have separate DUI/DWI charges, DWI being the more serious. Also DUI could apply to drugs, as well.
