The Humboldt fire isn't in Humboldt County...it's on the other side of the state, east of Chico.

All of Mrs. Meat Puppet's family live there and had to evacuate so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies.

BUZZZZZ.
Wrong again.
Humbolt County is west of Chico not east. Think "pacific coast" not "almost Nevada"

Subby fails at California geography.

The Humboldt fire, near Chico and Paradise, is in the north/central part of California, about 90 miles north of Sacramento. It's named for Humboldt Road, which is where the fire is thought to have originated.

Humboldt County is on the ocean, in the northwest part of California. That is about 175 miles west of the Humboldt fire area.

/has lived in both areas, getting a kick, etc
//currently lives in Chico
///prefers the Humboldt County type of smoke over what's been in the air here this week

No love for Stacy's Naked Pita Chips? Or Whole Foods' garlic and lemon olives (aka "addiction olives")?

Cape Cod Russets FTW... and the factory is about a fifteen-minute drive from my house. Good place to take kids so they can look through the windows at the frying kettles and get a bag of free chips.

Back in the day, Anheuser-Busch was subcontracting their Eagle Snacks "Hawaiian-style" potato chips through them (I think they had a majority stake in the company at the time). Well, I guess Hawaii and Hyannis sorta kinda rhyme if you jumble up the letters a little...

Thanks for the heart attack, subby. (currently vacationing from home in HumCo.) Hmmm... if the fire were in Humboldt I wonder how the firefighters would ever get past the muchies long enough to put it out?

Cyberluddite [TotalFark] 2008-06-15 03:30:28 PM
Has anybody mentioned yet that this fire is about 200 miles from Humboldt County? Yes? Good, then.

But it is not far from Chico, home of Chico State, which has a percentage of potheads similar to Humboldt County, so the joke in the headline isn't completely offbase.

BUZZZ.
You fail at English, "it's" in the original poster's post referred to the Humbolt Fire, which is definitely east of Chico.

You're all wrong. The best stoner snack food is:

Whatever the closest store has in stock.

Granted, a Butte County fire probably offers less of a contact high than a Humboldt County fire, but after living on the Butte/Yuba line for 4 years, I can say subby's Funyun reference is still very appropriate.
