Now, a 92 y.o. woman getting some 17 y.o. male tail, nothing wrong with that.

superchump 2008-06-15 04:37:19 AM
Yeah a 29 year old man better bring a quart of Pennzoil if he wants to slip it into a 71 year old.

30k and gold jewellery, and that's just to start?

And I thought Western women were money-hungry...

So the problem was, he tried to bribe the family rather than the officials?

Help me out here.

That sucks for her. He's so old there's no way he can get it up or even have sex without risking a heart attack, so she doesn't have to worry about that. He'll croak soon so she would be really close to cashing in on the old bastard's fortune, depending on Egyptian laws of course.

But that's interesting. He paid $28k to marry a (possibly) beautiful 17-year-old Egyptian girl. That's within my price range. I think I might be on the next flight to Cairo.

Not so much. Traditionally, wealthy Egyptians who pass on are entombed with their living wives, servants, pets, etc.

And would it be different if the sexes were switched?

Oh yeah, it would.

I say go for it. She gets all his riches as long as she can produce proof they consummated the marriage.

Yeah man, 92 year old dick? Fine with that, but 92 year old boobs? That is disgusting.

When the paramedics have to be called while they are in the act, she'll have all the proof she needs.

Not really problematic. The same sentiment struck Anna Nicole, but people forget that once you get to a certain point, you realize you can't take it with you, and the guys (and I assume wealthy women, at least in the West) want some beautiful company in those final days.

The law is sexist in that it still treats women as if they are incapable of knowing what they want. The law should focus on the issue of consent, but if women want to marry wealthy men, then it should be their prerogative. They don't need the daddy government to protect them.

Actually its best to use her poli-grip to tighten things up a little.

Exactly what does the girl inherit when the old man shuffles off this mortal coil? Anything? From the article it looks like she'll be living in Saudi Arabia. Forgive me for being skeptical of her chances at attaining rich widderhood under Saudi law. But, this is one of those rare cases in which I'd be happy to be wrong.

Do we have any resident experts on this matter? This IS Fark, you know, and on Fark there's always someone who knows.

mikaloyd 2008-06-15 06:06:21 AM
It says he cant marry anyone more than 25 years younger than himself legally.

That means the youngest bit of fluff he can marry is 67.

Poor bastard.

Deacon Blue 2008-06-15 06:15:32 AM
My post, of course, dealt with a hypothetical situation in which a 92 year old man DID get some 17 year old poon. It's not like I didn't read the article or anything. I certainly wasn't just talking out of my ass. Not me, no sir, I wasn't doing that at all.

crazywisdom_uk 2008-06-15 06:23:43 AM
This is slavery, in essence. The marriage was arranged, she has no say in this at all, all dowries going to the girl's family. Should she become widowed in her lifetime (likely) she would not inherit. Slightly better chance if she manages to have a son-then it all going to the son, and he would support his mother. She would be free to "remarry," but having been married previously-even legally-marks her as "used goods". A marginal member of her society at best.

/grim, not matter which way you look at it

I personally knew a 79 year-old who married a rather attractive 30 year-old filipino. They had a kid together and were very happily married. Although, she wouldn't let him drink as much as he'd like.

billybobtoo 2008-06-15 07:15:14 AM
it's like the old joke where the doctor tells the old man who married a young woman..."it could prove deadly"
old man says..."if she dies, she dies"

What?
At least one Farker knows the answer to any question?
O rly?
I think the 'signal to noise ratio' makes FARK useless for research.

Ok folks someone asked for information on women's inheritance rights in islam when the man dies. I'll include a link and the following excerpt.

http://www.jamaat.org/digest/inharitance.html
Link (new window)

But western world seems very much concerned regarding the share of woman and they think that in Islam women's share in inheritance is unfair and unjustified. The fact is that in Islamic law as a whole, women are much more favored financially than their male counterparts for the following reasons:

1 Before marriage any gift given by the woman's fiancé is her own and her husband has no legal right to claim on it even after marriage.

2 On marriage she is entitled to receive a marriage gift (Mohr) and this is her own property.

3 Even if the wife is rich, she is not required to spend a single penny for household; the full responsibility for her food, clothing, housing, medications and recreation etc. are her husband's.

4 Any income the wife earns through investment or working is entirely her own.

5 In case of divorce, if any deferred part of the Mohr is left unpaid, it becomes due immediately.

6 The divorcee woman is entitled to get maintenance from husband during her waiting period (iddat).

Thus one can see that men need extra share to discharge the family responsibility, social responsibility etc. incumbent upon him. Herein I would like to take the privilege quoting some other Qur'anic verses regarding the share of women in inheritance:

"In what your wives leave, your share is a half, if they leave no child; but if they leave a child, you get a fourth; after payment of legacies and debts. In what you leave, their (wives') share is a fourth, if you leave no child; if you leave a child, they get an eighth; after payment of legacies and debts...." ( Surah Nisa-12).

"Allah directs about those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs: If it is a man that dies, leaving a sister but no child, she shall have half the inheritance." (Surah Nisa-176)

Thus it becomes crystal clear that the inheritance of Islam gives to women is quite respectable share-without rendering upon her financially any family or social responsibilities.

I could be down w/ that. She could just cut her losses and go back home to Egypt and will likely be able to pick a more desirable spouse.

I say let him marry her. That's one less A-Rab on the intermets wanting to "let's make horny" with an American girl.

nomysterynil 2008-06-15 02:45:43 PM
Bette Midler had a good joke on the subject: Her husband said he was going to divorce her when he was 80 and marry a 20 year old woman. Her response was that she would marry a 20 year old man and, you know, 20 goes into 80 more times than 80 goes into 20.

disclaimer: NOT AN EXPERT . . . it is common practice in the Mideast for old, rich men to have sex with poor teen age virgins .. . .however, in the region, social mores forbid it and intimacies are sacred .. . the couple has to be married. To get around it; for everyone but the poor innocent girl, poor families are willing to "marry" their daughters to wealthy men who are "vacationers" in order to receive money . . .. the "marriage" usually lasts less than 24 hours .. .. . . the family get gets huge stamps, the guy (pedophile?) has gotten his and the teenager is scarred & "unmarketable" now that she's deflowered . . . . . . .

Abuse.

Kudos to the government trying to protect their children .. .. . on the other hand, why families need to abuse their daughters to get where they need to be, I'm not sure. I'd think that the government needs to address that.....
