If he was impersonating a NYC transit worker they would have found him asleep. Maybe he stuck out because he was working.

People found him friendly and helpful. That's why he keeps getting caught. He makes the real 'workers' look bad.

After 30 arrests he gets a tattoo on his forehead of "Not a Transit Worker".

How would you go about charging somebody with this? Almost anything could be a "burglar tool" if you think about it....

I'm confused. How did they know he was "impersonating a transit worker" and not just being a bum? Was he dressed too poorly to be a bum, or did the quality of booze give him away?

Hey, it's not just NY transit workers that are complete assholes. Here in the bay area, the BART workers are some of the biggest cawk suckers you ever met.

I am a retired transit worker (not NYCTA) so I'm really enjoying these comments. Here's one for you to enjoy. Keep paying our pensions, suckas!

I love the BART, at least they tell you how much your ticket is worth after a trip

Having suffered a bad day on Boston's T, I am inclined to agree.

Ok I am from a town south of Cork but have lived in boston for a lot of my life.

last weekend i took a trip down to washington dc and got totally farked up at some bars, i got on the metro there and missed my connecting train to vienna (virginia? i was staying w/ a friend so i have no idea) so they called in a train for us and only us, and that made me love the dc metro. When i got to the station i noticed i had no money on my ticket so i jumped the gate, metro guy gave me a stern warning but let me on my way. Could there possibly be a greater system than the dc public transport?

Police said he also had "written material containing knowledge of the transit system."

That makes him more useful than any other MTA worker.

Not necessarily. The real question is, could he UNDERSTAND the material? I've seen those maps, and you'd need a PhD in astrophysics to figure them out.

Bucky Katt: public transportation is so un-american

I'd rather be un-American than have people who shouldn't be driving being allowed behind the wheel of a car. That being said, since I'm legally blind, I'm one of those un-American people who take the bus rather than risk having an accident because I can't see worth a shiat. Many of the elderly people in the U.S. have bad vision & hearing due to their age. Do you want them to keep driving & risk having them hit & injure or even worse, kill a loved one?

That's the point. It's a Bullshiat charge they can throw on just to make you look worse. It's also handy for Plea Bargains. Throw some BS charges on there, and offer to take them off if he pleads guilty...

Monorail!

I think the MTA is wasting its time on capturing this innocent criminal who's bent on working for them instead of working against them. Give Darius a job. I've seen a photo of him, why just throw down the Race Card and get Sharpton, Jackson, and Obama involved?

While this is true, specalized tools like lockpicks, bump keys and so on make it a whole lot faster and easier, and are restricted because of this. I think that people should be allowed to possess whatever tools they want, but truth be told, I also can't think of a legitimate reason for having such specialized tools. Sure, maybe you'll lock yourselt out of your house, but if you forgot your keys, you probably forgot your lockpicks.

This ARTICLE FAILS!!!

I listened to a CBC broadcast about a week or two ago [i think it was called "ideas", a series that features radio documentaries.] and it was an episode about autism/apserger's sydrome. It one part/episode in a multi-part series about autism.
This particular episode focussed on this exact Darius fellow and his obsession with Transit Systems. [in this case it was the NYC transit system]. This article FAILS because it FAILED to mention that HE HAS ASPERGER'S SYNDROME [part of the autism disorder spectrum].
I only caught the last 30-40 mins out of 55 minutes of the episode, but the part I did hear have interview with his mother, and Darius himself. It also had interviews with various NYC city people [professionals and normal citizens] who were either for or against what he was doing.
It was a very interesting episide.

/ I have Asperger's Syndrome, so i'm getting a kick, etc.
// Ya Rly. I do.
/// Definately.

I had to stop wearing red/orange polo shirts while shopping at home depot. I'm thinking of wearing a blue shirt to Best Buy and telling them I quit.
