The reality of John McCain's campaign must be really depressing to the writers at The Onion.

any cheesecake makers on that list?

Can we skitch this "cheesecake" business?

I like cheesecake.

Damn this man world.

McCainDemocrat 2008-06-14 07:36:53 PM
Damnit, they left me off the list.

Some other notes about people on the list

"Former State Representative Brian Golden (Massachusetts)" - backed Bush a few times

"Former U.S Representative and 2002 Independence Party gubernatorial candidate Tim Penny (Minnesota)" - May not technically be a Democrat now

"Former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Philip Frye (West Virginia)" - Was frozen and unfrozen in 2999.

C'mon McCain campaign, I even backed Gore and Kerry.

WFern 2008-06-14 07:40:34 PM
cranberryzero: oh and don't forget the CheesePancake Brigade. that's a powerful voting bloc right there.

They'll need to adapt.

Lawnchair 2008-06-14 07:42:22 PM
Seems that the highest ranking name on the list, besides Lieberman is:

Former U.S Representative and 2002 Independence Party gubernatorial candidate Tim Penny (Minnesota)

So, we have a guy who didn't get the Democratic nod and ran third-party (on Jesse Ventura's line) signing up to work with another guy who didn't get the Democratic nod and ran third-party (Lieberman) to support the Republicans.

You know... Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott never had the kind of Congressional lead that the Dems had in 1993-1994. Yet, they got a lot more done (for good or bad). I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of a functional party.

veryequiped 2008-06-14 07:42:36 PM
Well didn't see any important names, just a lot of "Former", but the Assistant to the Assistant Waterboy for a highschool football team supports him!

I ALMOST want him to win the presidency just to hear crazy stuff fall out of his pie hole.

On purpose??

I will note that apparently the guys who don't have any money for their convention in Denver want to run the country.

No thanks.

Hobodeluxe [TotalFark] 2008-06-14 07:50:47 PM
McCain had a campaign guy quit after the primaries because he liked Obama and didn't want to campaign against him.

A lot of conservatives are saying nice things about him Scarborough,Noonan,Bennett,Williams,Powell,Hagel,Odom(deceased)
Spurlock,Eisenhower,Wehner and others

It's an emerging constituency (^)

Here's Obama's list of Republicans backing him?

Oh, you mean there is no list?

This won't be like 2004 where actual elected Democrats backed Bush. The Obama thugs are far too merciless for most Democrats to cross.

But, 30% of Dems defect from Obama in most states. That's a guarantee.

Bucky Katt [TotalFark] 2008-06-14 08:05:26 PM

Not sure he feels a need to issue a list.

I seem to remember a couple Rs announcing support, but they were pretty spread out chronologically.

Could be wrong of course.

Someone will probably put together a list, rendering my post utterly worthless.

So, thanks in advance! Bye.

OMG, McCain's got Phillip "Icky" Frye on his team! Bwahaha ... Icky Frye made headlines when he ran for governor of West Virginia as a way of seeking revenge on the incumbent governor, who had an affair with Icky's mail-order Italian bride. His cunning plan failed, however, when incumbent Gov. Bob Wise declined to run again.

blondiegrrl007 2008-06-14 08:26:18 PM
I was reading a column the other day by one of the syndicated neocon asshats (I forget which one). He was tepid about both presidential candidates and was ranting about having to vote for McCain because he thinks McCain sucks, but that he probably will vote for him simply because he's a Republican.

Republicans are NOT fired up about McCain.

blondiegrrl007: Versus the Republicans' support of their candidate:

Wow. That must suck for McCain himself. I wish I still respected him, but I have to object to his own party rubbing in his face the fact that his whole candidacy is based on not being black or having a foreign sounding name.

I was absolutely floored that the entire front page of the RNC site never mentioned McCain. Barak Obama's VP choices are bad and he hasn't spent time in a country that he wants to withdraw troops from in 1000+ days.

It is sad and a bit frustrating to see how far my party has fallen. I really can't call it my party anymore, since it has been hijacked by debt raising evangelicals who are convinced the bill will never come if they bring about the Rapture fast enough.

Lolz

are you kidding? You really want to go down that route?

Some big guns like Colin Powell and Sen. Hagel have indicated they will vote for Obama.

His list, if it is ever typed up, would troucne Mccain's list of failed candidates and HillaryClinton bloggers.

McCainDemocrat 2008-06-14 09:31:25 PM
Hagel and Powell have not endorsed Obama.

Powell has given money to McCain, and Hagel is irrelevant anyways.

Nice catch!

One party is going 100% negative, one party is not.
Let's see which election strategy America actually buys.
This is a test, your grade will count for the rest of your life.
Let's make sure we get this one right - all of our futures depend on it.

That is from 2007, for his primary campaign. doesn't mean he is supporting Mccain over Obama.

A local VFW head? My mom heads an American Legion Auxiliary post. If she endorsed McCain (which she won't), could she get on this list too?

McCainDemocrat 2008-06-14 09:56:35 PM
You don't think that a donation of $2300 should be considered in regards to guessing who someone will vote for?

It's pretty unlikely that you donate money to someone when they're in a dark period of their campaign (as McCain was in the summer of 2007), and then decide "I don't like this guy any more"

Also, you can donate to someone's general election fund at any time. For example, Tony Rezko donated money to the general election campaign of Barack Obama's Senate campaign in December 2002.

Bill Frist, you were exposed as a liar, and now you're spinning.
