(FMQB) Spiffy Outkast's Big Boi is almost finished with his solo album, "Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty", still unsure where all the rumors of him being a complete stoner come from   (fmqb.com) divider line 14

Well, he's still twice the rapper of Andre 3000. It it's shame he worries about image... and still smokes like crazy.

one of the few decent "successful" rappers left

I knew someone who ran into them at the studio and got to hang out with them. His comments were that they are incredible musicians, and what they put out isn't totally indicative of what they are capable of, they just know what will be commercially successful. They also smoke a hell of a lot. I'm not sure I ever believed the story, so take it for what you will.

Outkast + Raekwon = Success.

So they're like the Nega-version of Spinal Tap in that regard. I sorta dislike them for that reason, although I with they are very talented.

I would kind of just prefer a new Outkast album instead of a solo record. But I guess I'll take what I can get.

Twice the rapper? Really?

Royal Flush is the name if the song w/ Andre and Raekwon, and Andre easily has the best verse. I'm a big fan of Outkast, but Andre is easily a better lyricist.

Big Boi has a different flow, but I would not call his lyrics inferior. Watch the Wild N Out with Big Boi and you will quickly realize why no another rapper has come at Big Boi.

Big Boi is a good rapper and lyricist, but the heart and soul of Outkast is undeniably Andre. If it weren't for Andre's affinity for the strange, Outkast would simply be another boilerplate ATL rap group.

Royal Flush with Raekwon is a classic hip-hop banger, that's really what direction hip-hop should be taking, this ringtone rap is killing me. No, I don't wanna hear how fresh your Dougie is.

What was/is so great about outkast is the artistic contrast between andre and big boi. From a technical standpoint, I'd wager that Big Boi is the better rapper in terms of flow and cadence. He rarely sounds off rhythm on a beat and I'd put him up with anyone in hiphop in that sense.

What sets andre 3000 apart from big boi and pretty much everyone else is his willingness to experiment with anything and everything from p-funk to bubblegum pop. It can and has misfired (1/4 of the love below, most of idlewild) but when he hits, you end up with the impetus for outkast's real genius.

I don't think either will be as great individually as they are together. I personally liked Speakerboxxx/The Love Below for what it was but it's easily their weakest album

I have to agree with the above. When Dre and Big are together, they put out some quality art.

/Two Dope Boyz (In A Cadillac) - ATLiens
//The Train - Idlewild
///Wheels of Steel - ATLiens
//// Mrs. Jackson - Stankonia (really is Biographical for Big Boi) FTW!
