Wow...major gaffe on the part of McAuliffe.

Rest in Peace, Tim Russert.

RIP Tim Russert...thank you for doing your best to bring politics above the attempts to score cheap points with things like the Clinton-bashing evidenced in the linked "tribute".

fark you Russert.

And the rest of your corporate whore press that helped Bush do all the damage he did.

Bob16 2008-06-13 06:28:59 PM
The worst part is when his fellow lackies get out there and start talking about what integrity Russert had.

moops 2008-06-13 06:33:11 PM
Does anyone remember Russert's interveriew with then Sec of State Powell? Apparently, Powell got a little too uppity for Team Bush and they tried to derail the interview.

I was concerned for a moment when seeing the folks at Wonkette were going to pay their respects to Tim Russert. On it's surface Russert's passing doesn't have anything to do with Ron Paul whatsoever, and I was worried Wonkette wouldn't be able to fulfill their obligation of denigrating the Texas congressman every fifteen seconds. Well, worry no more...their crack staff were able to work in multiple Ron Paul references. The beating of that dead horse shall continue without pause.

Yeah thanks for asking all those probing questions about WMDs and 9/11 Tim.

No big deal.

Only a couple hundred thousand dead for no reason at all.

This and a thousand times this. Time Russert was a corporate whore and a blight on the face of journalism. He was, unfortunately, not alone.

Plamegate, Iraq, he couldn't hump those dogs any harder. If he had put half the effort into investigating those things that he did when Clinton's cawk was the subject, then maybe we wouldn't be in Iraq right now.

I admire what Tim Russert has done...what is so wrong with that? Are you that small, that bitter, that inferior to shiat all over the memory of a fine journalist and a decent human being?

Answer back and then log out before mommy and daddy come home- they wouldn't want you on their computer.

He was worse than that.

A well informed electorate is a crucial part of a functioning democracy. Take it away and you don't have a country anymore.

Russert worked hard at taking it away.

That Ron Paul clip was cut short. He puts in the bill what his people wants, but votes against it. He's only doing his job.

I know you're just a troll, but that wasn't his style. His style was to ask the question and let the other person fumble around so that the audience could decide. His show wasn't designed to be a side-show of people yelling and interrupting each other with everyone looking like a bunch of assholes.

That's why we have Fox.

That's insulting to both college students (who are more intelligent than Bob16), and hippies (who don't rejoice in the death of anyone, especially someone who was one of the few in his industry to ask poignant questions).

[crickets] Hello?

Right. So, has anyone found the clip of him annihilating David Duke? I'll try to find it, but if you happen to come across it first, slap a link up here. Please and thank you.

Gentlemen, gentlemen...relax you sphincters!

Russert was probably a nice guy off camera, given.

But he was no national treasure as the (o)press is making him out to be in this orgy of navel-gazing and self pity.

The MSM loves to back-slap and congraulate itself for (at best) mediocre if not sloppy performance.

Russert's death is just another way for the MSM to worship the only thing they love...THEMSELVES.

None of them would even piss on any of you if you were on fire.

Consider THAT before you tell us all how the nation is so bereft of a great leader.

The media died years ago, they just don't know it yet.

As "apples and oranges" comparisons go, that's the apples-and-orangiest.

For the time being, I'm going to back off with that "annihilating" bit regarding Russert with Duke. Haven't found the clip, but I've come across enough different angles on the exchange to make me want to see it before I go that far.

Cheering would be a bit much, but those two men have done nothing but bring down intelligent discourse in this nation.
That's not "LIBS VS CONS" crap, it means that both of those men suck assholes. Their deaths would deserve nothing more than a blip on the news screen. They're less important to the US political process than Jon Stewart.

Limbaugh and O'Reilly? I thought we were discussing journalists.

Classy?

My favorite Limbaugh quote

Too many whites are getting away with drug use...Too many whites are getting away with drug sales...The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.
(5 October 1995); also quoted in The Palm Beach Post (7 December 2003)

My favorite O'Reilly quote

So anyway I'd be rubbing your big boobs and getting your nipples really hard, kinda kissing your neck from behind...and then I would take the other hand with the falafel thing and I'd just put it on your p***y but you'd have to do it really light, just kind of a tease business...
As quoted in a sexual harassment suit filed against him by a Fox News producer, 2004

RIP Mr Russert. You may have had faults, but you have never been exposed as a sexual harasser or a hypocrite

Mooha 2008-06-13 10:35:15 PM
I found the "tribute" to be a hackneyed, thrown-together, steaming pile of crap that is worthy of the wonkette name.

My son could do a better job with some spray-painted macaroni, glue and a paper plate.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Russert Clan. RIP, 'Lil Man...

MorningBreath [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 10:57:20 PM
Overall I thought Russert was pretty decent at his job. There were figures on the left and on the right that seemed to intimidate him, and he would not ask them hard questions, but he did do some great interviews. He will be missed.

Hypothetical Question:

Noting that Russert is getting some respectful homage from the other cable news networks, it got me to thinking.. what if a total shiatsack like O'Reilly kicked the bucket? What would the media coverage be like? Discuss.

/RIP Russert

Odalisque 2008-06-14 02:34:55 AM
Ugh, what a terrible loss. I really admired and related to his passion for politics; I've never seen more genuine warmth and enthusiasm expressed toward political events and happenings than that expressed by Tim Russert. I was really looking forward to watching his coverage in November.

The minimization of his death and the attacks on his character certainly speak more of the depth and judgment of those who would minimize and attack than they do of Tim or his family and friends.

Why's it always got to be the good ones? Meanwhile O'reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, and all the other Faux News gorillas always seem to dodge the gas fires.

SirGnarls [TotalFark] 2008-06-14 09:04:19 PM
Being from the WNY area myself, I never got the chance to meet him, having called and written into his offices on three separate occasions to try an just have a minute of his time. I hold no ill will towards him and his staff, and I know right now he's discussing how and why Muslim extremists blew themselves up for 47 virgins when all they got were 47 old people who never had sex before
