Double-duty newsflash. Nicely done.

DeltaXi65 [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:38:59 PM
This is a damn shame. He was probably the best political reporter in Washington.

Sundays aren't going to be the same anymore.

Unright 2008-06-13 03:39:36 PM
Woah.

FlashHarry [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:39:38 PM

DeltaXi65: This is a damn shame. He was probably the best political reporter in Washington.

Hannity will do a fine job of filling his shoes.

suckerpunch [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:40:11 PM
we needed him now more than ever, going into this election.

Unright 2008-06-13 03:40:20 PM
Maybe he was digging too deep on a political scandal...?

RogerDodger [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:40:22 PM
My headline would've been "Russert Presses the Meat One Last Time"

Sucks, wonder who will take over for him on Sunday mornings. Still no news of it yet on MSNBC.

I am not going to believe it until we see the body. That family is full of known practical jokers and it IS Friday the 13th.

So sudden..very sad.

Marcus Aurelius [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:41:59 PM

Unbelievable. Watching Brokaw with the special report right now. He's getting through it, somehow. Damn, this sucks.

Oh crap I was thinking of April 1. My bad. RIP sir, you were one of the good ones.

picodenico [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:42:53 PM
Shocking, sad news.

RIP Tim.

doyner [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:43:10 PM
I'm watching Tom Brokaw trying to not cry as he reports the news on this.

Very sad. Russert was one of the few remaining people in that industry with a shred of credibility.

DeltaXi65 [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:43:12 PM
SchlingFo

Hannity couldn't carry his shoes. I can't imagine Meet the Press with anyone else.

He was only 58.

Ninja_Pancakes [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:43:20 PM
Man, that sucks. :(

Zalan [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:43:31 PM

58 years old..sheeeit.

picodenico [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:43:54 PM
Peaceboy: Unbelievable. Watching Brokaw with the special report right now. He's getting through it, somehow.

i can't even imagine how hard that was to say. I'm shocked he didn't break down even a bit. His voice started to crack a bit, but wow.

The debates and election night aren't going to be the same this year.

Banky_The_Hack 2008-06-13 03:44:27 PM
Way to go Terry McAuliffe...oh wait, that was his dad.

RIP Tim, you were always a joy to listen to and learn from.

nekom [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:44:35 PM
Very sad and unexpected news indeed.

Layzerd 2008-06-13 03:44:51 PM
Look for Keith Oberman to be the new "Red/Blue State Map" guy.

Also, I say rename that map the "Russert Map". Only man to make me care about an election.

Bob Dolemite [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:45:16 PM
Derek Force: The republicans in my department are all giddy like schoolgirls about this..

I don't understand why, he was rather impartial.

Confabulat [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:45:34 PM
Brain Williams is having one hell of a time being serious with all those jets launching behind him.

Tr0mBoNe [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:45:37 PM
Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of "Meet the Press," has died after collapsing at NBC's Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old.

Perhaps he should have worked on that Heavyweight moniker.

kellyshannon 2008-06-13 03:45:46 PM
I know his wife. This is very sad.

Canadian Canuck [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:46:00 PM
Wow, that was shocking indeed.

He was quite young too.

I expect it to be Andrea Mitchell, David Gregory, or Chris Matthews who takes his place.

Sad indeed.

Biggs [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:46:24 PM
Well that sucks.

DaSwankOne 2008-06-13 03:46:29 PM
This just sucks. I was really looking forward to his coverage this year. I have read two of his books. There are few people I agree more with than Tim Russert.

SchlingFo 2008-06-13 03:46:36 PM
DeltaXi65: Hannity couldn't carry his shoes.

Yeah, I know.

Russert was pretty much the only one out there in U.S. media asking questions of any importance.

DeltaXi65: This is a damn shame. He was probably the best political reporter in Washington.

That. He was one of the very few left in the "real newsman" category.

Tom_Slick [TotalFark] 2008-06-13 03:46:50 PM
Just saw a report on NBC, they pulled Tom out of retirement for the announcement.

I always had the impression he had a left slant. He was good though..kinda annoying and for a journalist..that's okay.
