I did this song last time I did karaoke. Probably partially explains why the cops showed up.

Had never seen that clip before. That had just loads of awesome all over it.

I remember watching Spinal Tap for the nth time with my friends who had never seen it and they pointed out that there are three bass guitars being played. I laughed.

There are so many subtle jokes that I pick up each time that I didn't see before.

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin
That's what I said.
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read.
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo.
I love to sink her with my pink torpedo.

Big bottom
Big bottom
Talk about bum cakes,
My gal's got 'em.
Big bottom,
Drive me out of my mind.
How can I leave this behind?

This has to be one of the most gloriously retarded things that has ever happened at a rock show.

As cool as cowbell is, you can never have too much bass guitar.

EVER.

Damn. ... I wouldn't be shocked if the noses of everyone in the crowd started to run from the relentless bass assault.

How can you not do something so stupid and awesome when you've got a joke band playing?

/Obligatory

How about at Bonnaroo with Galactic and Les Claypool doing Big Bottom. I miss the Houseman days.

In continuance of the peace...I present a slap bass lesson from Mr. Bass of the 80's - Mark King (new window).

He's the only bass player I can think of from the 80's at the moment...

\Cool player
\\Unfortunate band

Fousse 2008-06-13 11:34:59 PM
K. This one (new window) is kinda fun too if you can manage to ignore everyone except the rhythm section.

If you can make it to around 4:30 they get to show some chops...

This is what you should see in the dictionary under "awesomeness". Thanks Subby.

hm, I'veo nly found "Sex Farm" on karaoke.. Big Bottom is on karaoke?!

From one article "Joining the band were Foo Fighters' Nate Mendell, Metallica's Kirk Hammett, Bloc Party's Gordon Moakes and Madonna's bass player and producer Stuart Price.

However, Metallica frontman James Hetfield and the entire Beastie Boys also made it onto the stage to join in the fun." ..

.. also was Robert Trujillo, I think he was in Metallica when this was done?

There had to be a bunch more people in there.. anyone able to build a roster?

They did this song on Saturday Night Live too, with the guys playing lead bass, rhythm bass and bass bass. It was great. There's probably a video of it out there somewhere, I'm too lazy to look.

I remember watching this live as it happened, and just being floored with the sheer silly awesome of it.

Smalls is pretty good and that trick he does where he holds up his left fist while riding an A or E is neat, but he cant compare to Jaco

just when i thought this bass stuff couldnt possibly get gayer, someone posts something godly. fark music threads arent always epic failure after all. although the original from the movie might be a little more godly than this since gay people are involved here. regardless, good work!

i didnt mean EVERYONE was gay, just hetfield and hammett. they nearly ruined the credibility of a masterpiece, but something as inspired and amazing as that song couldnt even be brought down if REX BROWN himself were on that stage!
