I always thought Kelley was slightly hotter. But what a fun threesome it could be.

For something more upbeat, might I suggest Son of Three.

/Kelly is turning into my Aunt's twin.
//Kim still looks good for 47.

Both Deal biatches, are biatches.

The Pixies went to shiat when Charles Frank Black Francis Thompson decided that Kim didn't need to sing any of the songs after all, and so he could slip another of his whimsical yet sorta dark song about aliens onto the CD in place of one of hers.

Was at the same show. It was killer.

Kelley Deal is hotter because she abused heroin instead of alcohol. It's simple physics.

Tabatha Static: Dandy Warhol's "Cool as Kim Deal" (new window)

I dig that song, one of my favorite bands singing about someone in my favorite band. Kinda like when the Pixies covered "Head On"...similar type of thing at least.

D'oh! That should be "The Dandy Warhols's 'Cool as Kim Deal'".

(I don't want to come across like that "By the way, which one is Pink?" guy.)

A friend who saw their reunion tour when it hit Tampa remarked that on stage he was giving off fairly overt signs of his disdain whenever Kim sang a song.

The only Pixies show I ever went to was in '91, and I was frankly much more excited to finally be seeing Pere Ubu for the first time (they were opening). Got to see them (Pere Ubu) again at a 25th anniversary gig they did in 2000 at the Knitting Factory.

That's a hella double-bill. I saw them in '91 (I think? Or maybe the tour before?) but no Pere Ubu, unfortunately.

The closest I got to that was when PJ Harvey was touring with a band that included Eric Drew Feldman (a nod to Polly's Beefheart fixation), who also showed up on a Frank Black album or two.

...because sarcasm is always so obvious online, right?

Granted, that was pretty damned obvious. But still.

And besides, if you're so freakin' smart, why can't you spell Kelley's name right?

/am I wrong to get a little hot thinking about Deals and douches?

spacemanjones 2008-06-10 03:52:55 PM
But I was pressing my scarcasm keys.
Here's you extra e. E.
Not at all. Have always been a Kim kinda guy but after the show, I may have switched to KellEy. Wait, no still Kim.

Give the Mountain Battles record release party a watch on their web site. Classic.

Continue Deal worship.

There's 'mutch' more where that came from.

Maybe that was right before this tour, or perhaps Pere Ubu had dropped off by then -- that's a pity though. Pere Ubu was one of those bands or people whose music I had loved for years but didn't imagine I'd ever see in the flesh (John Cale another; eventually saw him 4 or 5 times). Small world department, which perhaps you'll appreciate given what I gather is a more than passing interest in graphics work: a friend I got to know in New Orleans in the 80's had done the artwork for their first album, The Modern Dance, when he previously lived in NY (also the collage on the inner sleeve of Blank Generation). Anyway, it was a big deal for me to finally see them, even if it wasn't entirely the original line-up. David Thomas is an amazing thing to behold.

I loved this show the other day, they couldn't play Drivin' on 9 because they had no violin. In any case, here's one or two (dozen) photos.

I was not disappointed, and if you can see this tour, and don't, you lose at band.

Sonic Youth were the first band I ever heard on the radio and thought, "This is interesting" when I was 11.

Cutest chick ever.

Love the Pixies, but yeah... Frank Black became an insufferable douchebag as time went on. The Catholics may well have been the most awful solo project of all time. He had an amazing voice when he was younger, now he sounds like a pubescent teenager with asthma.

/Pixies reunion tour was great though.
/There wasn't a single moment during the set that Kim didn't have a cigg hanging out of her mouth.
