I forget what eight was for 2008-06-09 09:12:17 PM
I saw them ages ago in Boston. They were way fun. White Lies is still a great song.

Saw them open up for Dylan back in '84 or '85. Fun band. A++++++, would go again.

Nice!

Too bad it's not likely to happen in Hoboken, NJ.

:(

SUH-WEEET.

Used to see them in Nashville and Athens and Atl back in the early 80's.
These guys kick ass like few other.

/White Animals, I'm looking at you............

I saw 'em in the mid 80s....they did another release a few years ago that was really impressive. The boys still have it.

Warner Hodges is one of my favorite guitarists ever. Saw them back in the day, would love to again.

DriveBy 2008-06-10 08:40:29 AM
I'm so going to be there. Warner is the man.

Flesh for Lulu would like to have a word with them.

They were great, but I was always liked Walk the West better. Just saw their reunion show a few weeks ago and they rocked!

Sweet Sweet Memories of growing up in New Orleans in the 1980s, when we were not listening to the cure, new order, we had some good old rockabilly-cowpunk

Jason and the Scorchers
Dash Riprock (check out ace of clubs, great alblum)
Drivin n Cryn

For newer bands that have the same spirit:

Trent Summar and the the New Row Mob
More country but he breaks it down, has a half country half punk version of He Stopped Loving her today.

Jason Boland and the Stragglers
One of those bands you have to see live.

I just listened to these guys' first three albums again recently. I had them all as a teen in the '80s.

Like Lone Justice, they were before their time...if they'd come out during the y'allternative vogue of the more recent past, they would have probably been bigger.

Mr_Fabulous 2008-06-10 11:00:23 AM
Saw them at the old 40-Watt Club in Athens, Ga. back in the day. What an awesome show that was.

theflatline: Drivin n Cryin? Gawd, I haven't thought about them in 20 years. My sister was friends with them. Great live act.

Haven't checked Tommy's web page, but I'd be really surprised if he isn't all over this.

Mildly amusing, true story: I live in Nashville, and a few years ago I bought a car from a salesman named Jason. When he gave me his card, I saw that his full name was Jason Ringenburg. I said, basically, WTF? and he explained that he and Jason-of-the-Scorchers were actually cousins, who happened to share the same name, and Yes, he gets that all the time.

Billygoat Gruff: Anyone know what happened to Charlie Sexton as well?

Here. I know he played with Dylan for a while, seems to be involved in the Austin music scene these days.

/slinks away

Golden Ball & Chain = One of the best songs to come out of the 80's.
Never tire of hearing it.

Met Jason in Nashiville once, he mailed me the single. Cool guy!

vuprop 2008-06-11 12:00:38 AM
Came here to see if anyone made a Dash reference so I'm not leaving disappointed...

Saw Jason live solo a couple years ago, still puts on a fantastic show, and All Over Creation was one of my faves 4-5 years ago when it came out.

/now if we can only get Hoaky off his boat in Florida, that would be a hell a Dash reunion show.
//flew to N'awlins for the one in 98/99 with all the past/present members...helluva show

ragnarqk 2008-06-11 01:29:14 AM
I could not read this headline without seeing something involving semen and cows.

Now you've done it - made me open LimeWire!!

Jason & the Scorchers?
Dash Rib Rock?
Drivin' & Cryin'?

You guys are killin' me! You made me remember that there was some really good music in the 80s - much of it regional.

I'll bet that the next band I name will make every 35+ Southeastern Farker say, "Hell yeah!", and everyone else say, "Who?"

Ready?
