Warren seems to have forgotten the golden rule:

The rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treble

I miss 90s rap. You could listen to Warren G's first album the whole way through. Now we're in the f*cking embarassing disco-era of rap. The shiat is unlistenable.

Everything else Warren G did since '95 was total shiat, though.

/if he posted $20k then he must have some seriously good financial planners watching his back.
//one hit album in a career and a few production credits doesn't exactly buy you Skywalker Ranch

Nate Dogg had a stroke in Jan. and is partially paralyzed.

He tours as Snoop's DJ, and is Dre's Stepbrother. I'm sure he gets put on to a lot of 'jobs' where all he does is get high and sign checks.

That's how I *always* heard that line.

Scary.

In all fairness, it's no longer the G-Funk era that would otherwise be funked out with a gangsta twist.

Sorry, in Dec. 07

From wiki

On December 19, 2007, he suffered a stroke, according to a coordinator for his recently formed gospel choir, Innate Praise. Reports had circulated that Nate Dogg had been admitted to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in Pomona, California after suffering a heart attack. Erica Beckwith, however, confirmed to MTV News that Nate Dogg was released on December 26 after being treated for a stroke and is currently in a medical-rehab facility to assist him in his recovery. On January 18, 2008, it was officially reported that the stroke had rendered the left side of his body paralyzed. Doctors believe there will be a full recovery, and his voice was not affected.[5]

I was probably one of only a very few people in high school who preferred the west coast stuff. Granted, this is south Florida, where a bunch of NY transient douchebag Gotti wannabes are all too familiar with the taste of Method Man's cock.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not knocking him in any way. I've always liked him but back then I just preferred one style over the other. Obviously in retrospect it's easier to see that NY had a lot more substance than style, but back then I never paid much attention to lyrics and shiat. My CD collection had everything from RunDMC to The Twinz to KRS-One to Mack10.

The guys in school who preferred east coast all came from Long Island but acted like they were from the Bronx and Brooklyn. Imagine the Growing Up Gotti douchebags, but back in the mid-90s.

Man, early 90s rap was so wack. Bunch of dudes yelling into a mic while some half-assed beat plays in the background. I'm glad that now we have real production values and people with skill. But they're black so most of you can't stand them.

In any music genre, there's a certain segment of the population that suck tremendously and are only interested in the money. Just because it's all you hear doesn't mean it's all there is, it just means you don't try very hard.

I dunno, I just can't believe you are saying modern mainstream hip-hop is actually better than the golden age (90s) hip-hop. At least back than the popular acts actually had rhyming and lyrical skills, now it's all about beats and making up dances. It's really like night and day. Current underground shiat is really good though, so I'm not knocking that.
