Too little, too late.

I was going to try to say something before the needless Texas bashing got started, but I see I'm too late.

That building's seen a lot of history, one of the few pre-civil war buildings left standing in downtown. Damn shame.

The reason so many people hate on Texas, is that they are jealous of Texas and Texans.

That's what anyone who was born here would tell you.

May even apply to some carpetbaggers.

That is messed. It was a beautiful building. You know people, it is not Hitler's Chancellery, but a historic executive mansion. Just because many of us have a distaste with Texas politics, that doesn't make arson right.

I'm not even going to justify that with a reply.

He (Perry) and his wife, Anita, are in Stockholm, Sweden, finishing up a weeklong, trade-related trip to Europe.

trade-related visit; yeah, right.

Weaver95 [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 02:16:16 PM
But officials declined to discuss more details, including how an arsonist could have gone undetected by Department of Public Safety troopers assigned to secure the building and its grounds.

toonz, never ever come to Texas then. Cause we are all racists down here who drag black folk around town with our pickemup trucks. I am sure nothing racist or outrageous has happened in whatever state or community you live in...

Well, in light of THE TIMES WE LIVE IN, I think it would be perfectly justifying to arrest everyone in the city and throw them in jail for a few years.

The Perrys moved out of the mansion last fall into a $9,900 a month rental house to allow for the renovation, a project that was expected to be completed next spring and cost about $10 million.

$9,900 a month? Jeebus, even Texans must be getting tired of republicant's by now. After years of abuse, it's about damn time people starting getting sick of the political antics in that state.

I don't think it's so much jealousy as ignorance. On the upside though, it keeps even more of them from moving here, and traffic's getting bad enough as it is.

This is true. Austin is the bluest city you'll find between the coasts. And, while I used to buy into the Texas-bashing, once I got moved here, I see things differently.

Yes, because killing leaders is the best democratic method of changing policy right? Obviously since they disagree with you on the way the country should be ran they should be dead.

cmb53208 2008-06-08 02:36:36 PM
I have nothing against Texans, by and large they're great people. But Rick Perry is such a piece of shiat I gotta question your judgement. Sorry.

8 years too late.

cfreak 2008-06-08 02:40:46 PM
I dislike Perry immensely, I dislike the redness of my great state but I don't wish anyone dead over their politics. It seems a few farkers here would do good to adopt a similar ideal since some people who might consider voting for the blue team would be turned away by such attitudes.

As for people who hate Texas ... good! Stay away, we have plenty of people here already.

earthwirm 2008-06-08 02:41:32 PM
Austin is liberal, but in a good way, and it isn't offensive to conservatives like myself, compared to Berkley or NYC.

Austin's liberals are mostly harmless, and make the town fun. Plus, it is more of a libertarian streak that exists here, not so much the leftist streak that exists elsewhere.

San Antonio, Houston, Dallas are all a short drive away, and the best BBQ, Chili, and of course Tex-Mex one can find is everyhwere.

Lots of good jobs, good healthcare, and educational opportunities. The only drawback is the stupidity of bilingual education. But, the illegals do depress prices on a lot of things, so Texas is quite affordable.

Plus, we make a damn good vodak, and wine.

Waffle of Justice 2008-06-08 02:42:35 PM
I hate to thread jack the current Texas bash session but I wonder if they considered a poorly grounded outlet with flammables in close proximity.. the thing was under renovation....

earthwirm

The reason so many people hate on Texas, is that they are jealous of Texas and Texans.

With that logic how would you explain Florida?

Gonz 2008-06-08 02:43:37 PM
The arsonist couldn't have gotten far. I've driven in Austin. The traffic is, to put it kindly, a biatch.
