What possible appeal could that douchebag have?

This is the first time I've heard his name brought up as a possibility. Meh, doesn't look too impressive.

ZAZ [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 09:06:40 AM
Is there any governor in the United States who can seriously claim "successul work with state healthcare issues"? That was Romney's line, and the system he claimed credit for is turning into a money pit.

Using the nickname "Bambi" for Senator Obama forces you into the "I'm a damn idiot" group.

Unbelievable.

I swear to Elvis, the Democrats are going to find a way to throw this election away if it's the last thing they do. Kreist.

So Obama is a blond bimbo now?

I've said it before, but I think Kathleen Sebelius or Jim Webb would be excellent picks. Kathleen takes the fire out of the "Clintonites for McCain" group, and Webb adds military experience to the ticket. And I like Bredeson as governor, and I'd hate to loose him to a national post such as VP

yep. they're the ones who call him "barry" or barack hussein obama, or just b. hussein obama. also noted for misusing the noun democrat as an adjective, as in "the democrat party." hurr hurr.

ManRay [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 11:36:41 AM
You know, if the Dems had run a person with that resume in the primary, they would be landsliding themselves to the White house in November.

Before this election, I would have said Mike Easley.

Governors rule!

Will this be the first time since JFK that a president was elected directly from Senate?

Gonna be a Virginian.

The question is Webb = good with military vote, out war heroes McCain, tough, problems with women due to old article about women at Annapolis and tendency to swap in wives for younger models like McCain, DoD experience

or Kaine: effective and popular governor, knows Spanish fluently, likable, from Missouri, problems with woman due to being somewhat pro-life.

There will never be a national leader from Kansas because everyone knows people from Kansas suffer a predisposition to be psychotic. They think it's the meth they put in the water. They say it's for the teeth but I'm not so sure it doesn't have side effects.

So do the conservatives. They just pretend the other way to get their votes. You know it's true, you think they're all inbred hicks too.

It was mildly amusing back when his popularity was really beginning to skyrocket and it smelled more like a fad than anything, but I've found that most of his supporters came back to earth when the whole Rev Wright thing broke out. They seem pretty sensible now.

The hardcore Clintonites, on the other hand, have gone batshiat crazy, complete with conspiracy theory goodness and delusions of grandeur.

It's gonna be a fun ride to November. If the Dems can channel all of the drama into votes, old man Johnny doesn't stand a chance in hell.

We're voting for the most powerful person in the universe. We'd better think he's pretty farking impressive. I mean, are we supposed to pick a failure of an oilman and an unsuccessful baseball team owner who can't speak very well publicly or something?

Although I'm a Republican, I would certainly have been happy to support Mark Warner for the presidency. Unfortunately, he decided it would be too difficult on his family and ended his exploratory committee in early 2007, if I recall.

Obama could also look next door to Indiana for his colleague and former governor Evan Bayh. Pretty sure Bayh couldn't carry Indiana, though.

For those of you who aren't from Kansas... Kathleen Sebelius has not just worked for health care as governor (which she has). She was the state insurance commissioner for 8 years before that. She cleaned up what had been a very corrupt bribe-filled office. She fought Blue Cross. And won. She knows a LOT about health care and insurance.

Article from 2002.

Obama/Sebelius '08. Please.

You know there's someone else who fits that description pretty well: Bill Clinton. I know, I know, it's probably not even constitutional for him to run, since he'd be a heartbeat away from the Presidency and breaking the whatever Amendment, but damn wouldn't that be great?

I've read that article -- it's great. Were I not lazy, I'd be reading his book right now.

However, this is the article that causes the problem:

Everyone thought straight from the hip Jimmy Carter was the shiat back in 76. He came out of nowhere and won the presidency. It was a crappy 4 years. This is setting up as a repeat. What you starry eyed children don't understand is you can't make big business do anything. If the government becomes the antagonist of big business, big business will just curl up in a ball and pout until you idiots say Uncle and elect a conservative who won't tax the extra living fark out of people. Yeah, they'll tax the fark out of people. It's just that they won't tax the extra living fark out of people and that's what allows business to stay open. Wait and see the hard times ahead if you jump on this smiling enigma's jock.

There is a place for women in our military, but not in combat. And their presence at institutions dedicated to the preparation of men for combat command is poisoning that preparation.

I don't have military combat experience. I have no idea where to go with this.
