Bwahaha. Loved the ending. Those journalists following him out the door defending Moyers was awesome.

Skail [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 08:23:56 AM
hehe... "Bill is not a journalist, he's a pugilist." Too true. And not even a very good pugilist, at that, since he requires cheating to "win."

nekom [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 08:43:04 AM
Why is everybody following him around afterwards? Must have been a painfully slow news day.

My Liver Hurts 2008-06-08 08:45:57 AM
nekom: Why is everybody following him around afterwards? Must have been a painfully slow news day.

They were harassing him for his idiotic thug "journalism," and good on them for doing it.

Why wasn't Porter wearing a Flag pin?

BLR 2008-06-08 09:07:46 AM
Would love to see a transcript. That audio was horrible, especially considering Porter kept talking over Moyers.

Hobodeluxe [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 09:09:23 AM
Does Rupert Murdoch have a responsibility to this country? Why did he tell everyone if we invaded Iraq gas would be 20 dollars a barrel? -Bill Moyers on accountability

peachpicker [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 09:10:21 AM
Porter just seems to be spilling over with self-loathing. He's got that "God, I hate my life" shamble.

Random Reality Check 2008-06-08 09:10:51 AM
I wonder if this experience caused Porter Barry to think about his profession and more specifically his work in this field.

When can we expect an answer as to whether Bill O'Reilly will appear on Bill Moyer's show?

I would so much like to see that media event.

CougarJeff [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 09:11:11 AM
That producer reminds me of some Farkers.

don't like it when the tables are turned, do you? Someone should've given the guy a kick in the arse on the way out. At least.

mid6000tek 2008-06-08 09:16:09 AM
Why attack Moyers? Is it because he was at a Media Reform conference?

\I don't watch the O'rly show.

ilambiquated 2008-06-08 09:17:34 AM
wierd

Marcus Aurelius [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 09:17:34 AM
That was easily 10 times better than anything I've ever seen on FOX. Except for maybe the Simpsons, of course.

Marcus Aurelius [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 09:19:05 AM
mid6000tek

Why attack Moyers?

Moyers is not a corporate mouthpiece. He's a real journalist, one of very few left at the national level. They're hoping to drag him down to their level.

justafarkingchef 2008-06-08 09:20:24 AM
Ahh, right wing bully journalism. It's always funny to see it fail. I guess its a lot harder to win an argument when you can't cut your opponents mic, douche bag.

Drasancas 2008-06-08 09:20:43 AM
A transcript would be nice, methinks.

RadiomanATL 2008-06-08 09:22:55 AM
Dude was a moran. He coulda played it where he still came out on top if he had kept it real short and sweet. In a protracted battle of the minds Moyers is gonna win hands down. Not that I wanted Porter to "win", just sayin.

'Course, if this was real journalism like Moyers was pointing out, there would be no "winners" or "losers". Porter chose to start a gunfight armed with only a slingshot though...

Yea, that was hilarious how they turned his ambush tactics back on him. He couldn't get out the door fast enough.

I loved Moyers crack about O'Reilly's work on "A Current Affair". Because in reality, he's still doing the same show with a politics focus.

Master of the Flying Guillotine 2008-06-08 09:48:17 AM
And that is why Bill Moyers rules.

21-7-b 2008-06-08 09:58:24 AM
what a surprise: porter barry, who works for freedom-hating, self-serving, hypocrite shill bill o'reilly, who in turn works for freedom-hating, self-serving, hypocrite shill rupert murdoch, is himself a freedom-hating, self-serving, hypocrite shill

well done, porter. don't worry what anyone else says - you carry on

Notabunny 2008-06-08 10:03:34 AM
That was so sweet I think I got the diabetes.

nekom: Why is everybody following him around afterwards?

Goose, gander, all that.

sage37 2008-06-08 10:08:45 AM
That was just beautiful - I especially liked Porter's critiques of the other journalists' attack/harassment "journalism": 'Is this all you do, ask the same question again and again?' HA!

Ragin' Asian 2008-06-08 10:14:48 AM
Who the crap thought it would be a good idea to send a Fox News "reporter"/"producer" to match wits with Bill Moyers? That's like a Catholic boxing a pride of lions.

bwesb 2008-06-08 10:16:23 AM
Apparently Porter is good for carrying someone else's bags, and not much else.

jake_lex [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 10:16:42 AM
This won't matter to the drooling morons who watch the "Factor" now, because they watch it so that someone out there will tell them their political opinions aren't stupid and ignorant, but "common sense". But I think the tide is turning with O'Reilly. There was a period there where he was kinda looking like a serious political commentator, and oozing into the mainstream. That's over.

Also (quoting from memory):

Question: "Do you think what you are doing is journalism?"
Response: ::forms a thin sheen of sweat:: "Well, Mr. Moyers just called me one."

Bwah! Dishes it out (not really) but can't take it.

Louder And More Dissonant 2008-06-08 10:23:55 AM
"We'll see if that message gets on the air. And if it doesn't, if you want a job...

I may have some recommendations for ya."

Heh.

What a great way to start a Sunday morning.
Paper tiger O'Reilly sends his pitbull, which promptly gets it's muzzle slapped off.

America is sick of your shiat.

You may want to make a note of it.

Wow.

that was a little funny seeing that green arrow in a thread I hadn't posted in yet.

Thanks for the quote.

Why was O'Really afraid to confront Moyers himself.

Pretty chicken shiat.

Wait till the Paris Business Review hears about his.

Yeah, he'd better deal with this or he might not win another Peabody.

Not to mention Andrea Macris

My Liver Hurts: They were harassing him for his idiotic thug "journalism," and good on them for doing it.

So they were just trying to prove a point? That makes the most sense, since there really isn't a story to be made out of it.

You can expect that answer right now: won't happen. O'Reilly's too much of a hack and he knows he'd be embarassed.

nekom: That makes the most sense, since there really isn't a story to be made out of it.

There's a story homes, you just have to find it.

The story is don't fark with Bill Moyers. Like yours truly, he's a major league shot-callin' pimp. If you're gunnin for big bosses like us, you had best not send your little homies after us; ya hear me BillO

Here's a hilarious interview where he walks out on Terry Gross.

That O'Really is one of the more frequently watched of the cable pseudo-news programs is a testament to how low the bar has dropped for perceptions of intellectual integrity amongst the American audience.

FlashHarry [TotalFark] 2008-06-08 11:16:45 AM
bill o'reilly is a pusillanimous coward, just like his blowhard stablemate sean hannity. history will not be kind to these creeps.
