the Japanese don't usually go on sprees at all, as their sociology is entirely different than the United States.

Yeah, if he was able to solo 14 of them, they probably only dropped some lame low-level greens that aren't even worth disenchanting.

There have been lots of such sprees over the past few years, actually. This would be a scary country if guns were easy to come by.

Was part of Snow Crash set in Akihabara or something? I love that book, but I thought it was basically all in "America" and on the raft. Been a while since I read it...maybe time for a re-read.

Sure they do, the American news just doesn't talk about it for 6 months when it happens because it's IN JAPAN.

Japan's not all about giant robots piloted by 14-year-old emo kids, magical girls in tight schoolgirl uniforms, or tentacle rape, ya know. I actually studied about Japan in a World History course, and they're a pretty interesting country when it comes to tactics and thought.

I was reading the 47 ronin (pretty boring really) while waiting to get my driver's license. I noticed the DL had printed and the tech didnt hand it strait to me like the previous 'customers'. After waiting 20 mins, I inquired wtf he hadnt handed me the printed card. He mumbled something and said he was on break, five min later another tech comes and hands me the DL.

Later, I find out the guy thought I must be a criminal or something and was checking up on me. I have one of those faces where people assume im up to no good (it has made me an honest and indignant person), and i think the book drove his paranoia over the edge. One of those 'in this day and age' people I guess. No $2 bills involved sadly.

jaroho 2008-06-08 02:15:09 AM
sadly off topic, because im bored, im waiting for one of these headlines to be funny, but tells me what i need to know about the story without needing to read it, because thats when i know the world has gone to hell

Actually, no part was set there. But I thought a crazy knife wielding guy in the tech district was like him, and Aki reminded me of the Metaverse.

You could say I reached a little.

It may be because it's late, but I have no idea what you're talking about. That sentence (and it's just one with an assload of commas) made no sense whatsoever. Are you looking for funny headlines that tell the story, funny headlines that don't tell the story, or unfunny headlines that do/don't (please circle one) tell the story? Which one determines that the world is plunging into hell?
