Actually, Bono starving would be pretty high on the irony meter.

I take great joy in the knowledge that people will make fun of these guys for centuries to come.

I guess nobody's learned yet that if you're connected to a band in any way, shape or form, the stupidest thing you could possibly do is make negative reference to people downloading your music for free.

There's no better way to ensure even MORE people start ripping off your shiat.

You get to feel so guilty
Got so much for so little
Then you find that feeling
Just won't go away

What's there to steal? When U2 and just about everyone else goes 4 or 5 years between albums, you're lucky anyone even remembers your band. Yeah, there's alot of bootleg trading out there (nothing else to do while you're waiting for NEW music), but bands need to realize that those trading boots are their biggest and best fans. They're the ones who just shelled out $50 for a re-release of The Joshua Tree just to get a DVD of a 20-year-old concert that they couldn't release as a $20 separate item - they had to rape their fans instead of rewarding them with the release of that concert after all these years. I wouldn't blame anyone for downloading that one of the net (put me on THAT jury!!!).

Sounds like they're going to push for tariffs on internet traffic, under the assumption that it is being used to 'steal' their crappy product, exactly like the farking leeches did with CD/DVD media (in Canada anyways). I've burned maybe 2 music CDs in my entire life, back in high school before the even had the stupid tariffs.

Have they tariffed MP3 players yet? It wouldn't surprise me, since it would cost tens of thousands of dollars to fill a 40GB+ player at current prices.

Lo and behold, media prices still keep going down because the tech industry continuously offers a better product for less, unlike some industries that just whine and complain and offer up the same old shiat for the same old high prices. Then they whine and complain to the gov't who essentially legislates profit for these greedy farks.

They could all die tomorrow, there are tons of artists more than willing and capable to fill the void, many likely rejected because they aren't bland and commercial enough.

U2's manager apparently needs a new Bentley.

Boo. (Pause.) Hooo.

U2 doesn't pay their own freight - through some legal chicanery their income tax rate is 2%.

U2 made plenty of money before the big mp3 music industry meltdown, SO PHUQUE THE PHUQUE OFF.

Also, they have sucked for twenty years.
Please make it stop.

Ireland's some sort of tax haven--I know a couple of the guys in Def Leppard live in Ireland to avoid British taxes.

/shut up, Bono, you fat bastard

Um, not that I'm a big U2 fan or anything, but aren't they Irish? Wouldn't it be logical for them to live in Ireland anyway?

In related news, U2 to re-release re-mastered copies of their first three CDs so you can re-buy them to replce the crappy sounding ones you already paid for.
