Its funny that a non-renewable polluting substance such as gas costs only $1.90 or so for a gallon while a renewable resource such as milk cost $3.50 for a gallon. Someday we will run out of gas because people use it like crazy. Good thing some people are considering different forms of transportation like walking-since most of America is fatter than hell and lazier than ever. I dont like paying high prices for gas either but it keeps me from wasting lots of gas and off my ass....

Heh. The old cost of gas versus cost of milk meme...I miss the good old days.

Hiymenator [TotalFark] 2008-06-07 08:36:19 PM
I remember the good old days...When I filled my car up for the first time after getting my license, gas was 89 cents a gallon for low grade. In January of 1999.

Nah, manual 1995 Saturn. 'Cause I'm classy.

My father has a brand new X5 BMW thing. Or something. Either way, it's ridiculous. It's like driving a computer that drives your car. I hate it.

It's pretty simple economics...now that Gas is become as expensive as the the cheapest alternative energy...we will turn to it. It wasn't gonna happen before then.

Why? Cause we like our stuff as cheap as we can get it.

Abner Doon 2008-06-07 11:45:47 PM
eqtworld: Congress should just pass a law and make it illegal to charge more than $2 for a gallon of gas.

If they can make money at that price then, they can do it now.

/they are all criminals, they wake up every morning and set the price of gas...and we just pay it like a bunch of chumps

I assume you're joking/trolling, but I swear I hear this at least once a day in real life. It makes me sad that people are that dumb...

Europeans and Americans would get along so much better if Europeans realized a 100 miles isn't that far and if Americans realized 100 years isn't that long.

And if we don't do something different, next summer we'll be at $6-$7 per gallon.

My wife filled up her tank for under $2.00/gallon last time.

Basically, we game the system. The local grocery chain gives you $0.10 off per gallon for every $50 spent at the grocery store. Since the car is rarely used, we save up over $2.00 in fuel perks between fill ups. It's awesome.

TMBGfreak: I'm using gas as an excuse to get my first motorcycle. I'm very excited for it.

i have my motorcycle in the shop right now (i'd work on it myself but i'm one step above a homeless person, living out of boxes and moving every 2 or 3 weeks)

i'd have to drive roughly 900-1200 miles at current gas prices to justify the shop costs, i'm fairly certain that will take less than 6 weeks

Re: (deleted: Threadjacking/off-topic)

When you link an old thread full of users very few people have seen, and someone asks, "Who the hell are those people in the comments?"..

It is NOT offtopic to point out that many of them are still around, posting under a different account names because of some of their postings made while under the influence.

JerseyTim: Who the hell are those people in the comments?

I remember those people. But then again, I'm so auld skool, I remember the Mario Brothers before they were Super.

I just got a job 300 miles away from my house. The five hour commute is going to cost a mint! How can I afford that with gas at this price!

Oh, wait, I'm smarter than that. I'll just buy a second house near the new job and walk to work or take the bus. Then I can commute to my country house on the weekends or whenever.
