You know what? Let them teach intelligent design. Let a bunch of counties decide to do this, and then let the NCACS run their accreditation through the paper shredder. When they find out their precious little snowflakes can't get into college because they wanted junk science taught, it will serve them right.

This is the only acceptable reason for teaching intelligent design in schools.

The only problem with this theory is that the NCACS would probably cave to political pressure.

I know my people's, and I know both these Reps. They are just pandering to the CRC and RCA churches in West MI and Central MI, their districts, and both of them can take a leap.

Moolenarr better watch what he says, his district is the world headquarters of Dow Chemical, a company that wouldn't exist if it weren't for proper scientific theory.

Two points:

1. Creationism isn't scientific. It doesn't even need to be. God being real, won't be bruised by scientific study.
2. Evolution is science. That doesn't mean I have to accept every aspect of it. Science isn't perfect. Just ask my cholesterol level. Trans-fat my ass...

it doesn't take much to propose something like that. Just a congressman from an area that supports the. Which is exactly what you get from Bill Hardiman and West Michigan.

Michigan really ought to be divided into two sections. Either north and south or east and west. If Michigan were as borderline red as you seem to think, DeVos would have beaten Granholm in '06.

What exactly is it these people expect will be accomplished with the introduction of intelligent design/creationism in science classes? Have any of them reasoned it out that far? Seriously. Let's assume that science classes are forced to teach intelligent design. Then what? What's the benefit?

Seriously. Let's assume that science classes are forced to teach intelligent design. Then what? What's the benefit?

Then we will have insightful "science" papers such as this:

The book of Genesis provides an outlook on the way that dinosaurs lived. In Genesis 1:30, God says, "I give every green plant for food" (Youth Walk Devotional Bible). This verse implies that every living organism was a herbivore. Originally, no animal was killed and eaten by man or other animals.

Paul Taylor disagrees with a perspective many humans have concerning the dinosaurs. They "were certainly not vicious or troublesome" ("Dinosaurs: Before..." Internet). Because all living organisms ate plants, dinosaurs did not go around tearing off the arms and legs of animals for food.

God also says that everything was "very good" after each day something new was created (Youth Walk Devotional Bible Genesis 1). This verse implies that humans and dinosaurs co-existed. Most everyone will agree that death is bad. If dinosaurs died before humans were created, sin would have entered the world. Also, dinosaurs and man were created on the same day.

God plainly says after every day that everything was "very good." Death is therefore sin, so the dinosaurs could not have died before the existence of humans (Liebert Interview).

This explanation supports the fact that dinosaurs were among those animals taken on board the ark. So, as Ken Ham plainly says, "Dinosaurs did not live millions of years ago; they did live beside people; they did go on Noah's ark; they are mentioned in the Bible; they did live after the Flood" ("Dinosaurmania..." Internet).

No longer do scientists have to research this controversial issue; it is already written down in the book of Genesis with the story of the Flood.i>

I live in West Michigan, just outside Hardiman's district. North Florida is not too far off. Thankfully this bill has little chance of passing, as you and TFA stated.

John Woodmorappe has done some excellent work in a technical book titled "Noah's Ark; A Feasibility Study" that explains this issue. Here is a table from his book that itemizes the animals that would go on the Ark.

Mammals 7,428
Birds 4,602
Reptiles 3,724
Total 15,754
Animals in Ark 31,508
Arks Capacity 125,280

The trustees for accreditation boards are fairly numerous and spread out over several states, and school and university levels. If NCACS is anything like the one in the South (SACA), they don't pull punches. A school system in the Atlanta area is getting run through the ringer (for different reasons) right now.

Even if it is just one fundy nut case, anti-rational twits in power need to be smacked down without mercy or hesitation. And grouping his entire state in with him is a pretty effective way of shaming them into action.

Then you will just love this one

To summarize briefly: Dinosaurs were made the sixth day with the rest of the animals.

Noah took them on the ark (probably young ones). They have always lived with man. After the flood many died from the climate changes and from mans hunting.

They were called dragons for many centuries. (The word dinosaur was just invented in 1841) A few small dinosaurs may still be alive today in remote parts of the world.

There have been over 20,000 reported sightings of dinosaur like creatures in this century.

This is one of my favorites:

The authority of the Bible should never be compromised as mankind's "scientific" proposals. One little previously unknown fact, or one change in a starting assumption, can drastically alter the whole picture so that what was "fact" is no longer so.

This is worth remembering when dealing with those other areas of difficulty which, despite the substantial evidence for Genesis creation, still remain.

Only God possesses infinite knowledge. By basing our scientific research on the assumption that His Word is true (instead of the assumption that it is wrong or irrelevant) our scientific theories are much more likely, in the long run, to come to accurately represent reality.
