There was an article a few months ago talking about how Edwards was not happy as VP nominee in 2004, and how that soured him for any potential future opportunities. It was a good and interesting article, but I can't find it. It basically reinforced the fact that Kerry sucked.

Yeah - I read that too.

My guess is Attorney General.

I had this idea last night:

Make Edwards Secretary of Health & Human Services. Then create a role of "Health Care Czarette" for Hillary, and make her report to Edwards.

That puts Edwards in the cabinet, and it gets Hillary on board without having to give her a cabinet appointment. Health care was the big thing for both of them.

nah, he'll probably just work with her and introduce the health care bill to congress with both their names on it.

Getting trashed by Dick Cheney in the VP debates wasn't exactly the best way to prop up a suckful candidate.

If you had Cheney on the other side of the table, sneering and wringing his hands like he's having difficulty restraining himself from jumping over the table and wringing your neck, your debate performance might be a little "off" too.

Yeah, doesn't it just involve a great deal of saying that whatever the president wants to do is legal?

/and firing anyone who might be about to investigate something the administration doesn't want investigated

Here's how you beat Cheney in a debate:

1) Blow up paper sack like a balloon
2) Carefully sneak around behind Cheney with aforementioned paper sack, being sure to quietly hum sneaking music to yourself
3) Pop bag right behind Cheney's head while saying "BOOGEDY BOO"
4) Watch as Cheney's baboon heart jumps out of his chest

I hear this is how Solid Snake is going to take out Liquid Ocelot in MGS4. Regardless, this should be common knowledge for a VP candidate.

What's the record for consecutive losses for a VP candidate? He may be trying to avoid the record books.

lOOK OUT DEMS, Hillaryis44ers are on your tail! The 4 regular posters who contribute 90% of all Hillaryis44 volume, are in talks to discuss how to figure out how to contact Bill Clinton to head up the new political party they are creating to crush the DEMONcrats with!:

From Hillaryis44:

skmf12 Says:

if the liberals took our party, lets take theirs, we can be the
NEW MODERATE LIBERAL PARTY...
the party that doesnt need latte liberals, traitorous dem elders,
children, or the radical black and white arm of the democratic
party to win...

--

skmf12 Says:

i am wondering how big dog [Bill Clinton] is feeling right now.
they have treated him worse then the republicans have.
you know what? he should join our new party!
lets write him a letter, and tell him he will be head of our
new party!!!

--

the main idea is to form a party quickly, before the anger dies
down, and time blurs the memory.

also, for everyday americans, who work two three jobs
they dont have the networking for taking that new step.
if we had a party started by sept,
we could advertise and gather all our little stray voters, and
diirect them to the new american party.

--

lets keep that bill idea in mind...
infact, shouldnt somebody be talking to him?
after all he is the wisest politician of this century...

--

how does someone send a message to the former president of
these united states?

ADMIN,

any suggestions?

Cagey B: Getting trashed by Dick Cheney in the VP debates wasn't exactly the best way to prop up a suckful candidate.

That was the campaign's fault for agreeing to make it a round table sitdown instead of a standard podium debate. They really should have known that was a trap.

Greatest. Debate. Ever.

Moderator: So mr. edwards, what do you think is necessary for victory in Iraq?
Edwards: Well I'd just like to point out again how proud VP Cheney is of his LESBIAN DAUGHTER. She is, as we all know, a LESBIAN. She likes other women, which is what a LESBIAN does. So, I think it's important that we take time and applaud the vice president for raising such a strong, LESBIAN DAUGHTER.

Wow. That's hilarious. We don't need those pesky sane voters. There's sure to be enough insane democrats out there to get Hillary as president.

WHY?!

Why the hell would he be a particularly good Attorney General? Because he's a lawyer? Everyone on the damn Potomac is a lawyer. Edwards was a trial lawyer. I mean, he might be a terrific cabinet member (someone mentioned HHS, or maybe Labor).

The Attorney General (in my opinion) should be a career prosecutor, State A.G., or judge.

My own favorite:

Moderator: Mr. Edwards, when you were campaigning to for the nomination, you said Kerry's economic plans would be terrible for the country. Now that he's chosen you as his VP, you agree with his economic plans. Why the change of heart?

Edwards: I love this country. Patriotism. Generic bullshiat about how this country rules. We're awesome.

Obviously, I'm paraphrasing.

/You can't chose a VP that A) disagrees with you on everything, and B) can't lie successfully if they do disagree.
//Am I talking about Edwards or Hillary?
///I apologize for bringing her back into this.
\\\\Backslashies to buck the trend.

No, that's the counsel's office. As AG, all you have to need is a thesaurus so you can come up with 100 different ways of saying "I don't recall" and "I'm not going to comment on an ongoing invesiga..wait, what? it's over? I don't recall"

So many good John Edwards moments. My favorite would have to be him lecturing that Americans should sacrifice their SUVs when owns three of them and lives in a 28,000 sq foot house. Then there is the creepy way he uses his dead son to try and get close to people.

Is that an actual party rule? The dems will have such a lock on all of Congress that if I were Obama, I wouldn't care. Though Biden has said that he didn't want to be S. of State. Richardson would be a good pick as well.

Maybe, I'd be a little leery of putting a former plaintiff's attourney in that position, that ilk is notoriously unprincipled when it comes to the law and Edwards' personal history really does nothing to alleviate that impression.

I'm fairly convinced that this was why he failed in the run for the actual nomination. Everybody in the world doesn't know his case history, but enough of the people that keep track do that they went about using their leverage to quietly sink his ass. People on both sides have been working very hard to reform our judicial system, potentially reversing all that wasn't worth it to anybody.

Unfortunately we have no guarantee of a lock on the Senate (must be 60-40 to get anything done). Obviously this is not an actual party rule - just common sense.

fosborb 2008-06-06 01:39:39 PM
Diogenes: Beggars can't be choosers. Though I'm sure Hillary will try.

You're giving her one of two options:

1) Take a non-cabinet executive role that would normally be given to a minor player or even first-timer in national politics. Serving until 2012, possibly until 2016.

2) Remain a U.S. Senator. She's currently on the Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee (Children & Family subcommittee), and she has a seat on the Armed Services Committee. She'll serve at least until 2012, but probably until she chooses to resign or dies.

Even a cabinet level position is a slap in the face compared to the power she will have after 4-10 more consecutive years in the Senate.
