That comment wounds me. I have respect for the sacrifice of our soldiers. Get me a purple-heart band-aid so I can prove it.

Like I said already; his wife blots her lipstick with $100 bills. He can afford a nicer grill.

It's not like we're mocking one of those veterans who can't afford proper medical prosthetics, dental or otherwise, because they get sh*tty benefits due to some dickwad Senator leading the charge to deny better coverage.

Read the comments dumbass, everyone there is saying some brand of "McCain has real policy problems, what his teeth look like aren't what we should be attacking him on"

I wonder if soldiers who come back from Iraq can get nice fake teeth if they need them.

Weren't the Republicans the same one that smeared an incumbent Congressman by calling him unpatriotic and un-American despite the fact that he had lost several limbs in Vietnam?

One must clean up well to win popularity contests.

Don't need to be a historian to figure that one out.

BearToy [TotalFark] 2008-06-05 10:33:07 PM
Ooooo, McCain has already lost then. Because once the Beavis & Butthead average American started making fun of Kerry's horse face and his photo op in the clean room bunny suit it was suddenly a contest between Douchebag and Shiatsandwich. You can lie to get support for your invasion of Iraq, spy on us, and piss on our Constitution but as long as you look butch in a flight suit and act like a C student arrogant dumbass you will beat the competition even if they are exponentially more intelligent and have better ideas.

McCain is an old man with a face lump and icky teeth. He's toast.

He went to pick up a random grenade he found on the ground after hopping off a helicopter outside of a hot zone. He did something stupid. Just because he did it in Vietnam doesn't make him any better of a person.

Oh I wasn't saying that he was a better or worse person nor am I condoning attacking people on their looks, I'm simply pointing out that campaigns against opponents using their disability or appearance are a sad reality. Although in all honesty I think that they should focus more on policy and on how they can better help the country and less on who will make the better looking Prom King.

This is so true.. my dad is very Republican and loves to send me any stupid email forwards he gets just to antagonize me. He did vote for Carter, though, and he'll vote for Obama.

He usually has a bit more discipline than that. Sinking to the level of critiquing the color of his teeth is the kind of hack partisanship that his guy (Obama) is trying to fight. Very unfortunate...especially when the right-wing noise machine picks it up and uses it against Obama.

LOL for the email forwards. My younger brother is currently serving in the Air Force, and is voting for Obama as well. Took some convincing, though, he's a bull-headed one.

It does strike me as very incompetent that his team put up such a ghastly photo of him. I was astonished that they put him in front of that awful green backdrop the other night, too.

Pretty minor points, but he seems to have surrounded himself with a rather amateurish team. This does not bode well for the kind of team he would assemble in the White House.

If McCain had such a problem with being tortured, he would be anti-torture now.

What's that? He was anti-torture until the Republicans started endorsing torture to rile up jingoism? Now he supports torture? Hmmm....

Tell you what, when he starts admitting how awful torture is, I'll start saying that mentioning things like his teeth are off-limits.

Sort of - except that a photo op is damn basic to any political bid. Gravel never looked that bad and he's no beauty. Kucinich gets by because he can tote that hot wife around.

Mccain needs professional image help and he's not getting it. The whole thing is just odd.

Check out this bizarre attempt^ to copy moveon's election video contest.

Keeee-rist...I hadn't seen that. Very bad, indeed.

I like to think my votes are based on more than physical appearance, speaking skills or how well a guy's campaign manager performs on YouTube, but you're right - these things do matter.

Ultimately, McCain is the guy responsible for putting together this bunch of hacks and keeping them on his payroll, and that does say something important about McCain.

Really, guys. We don't have to vocally make fun of how awful he looks, we can just silently benefit hugely from it during the debates.

That way, we gain from the debates becoming Kennedy-Nixon2, and we don't look like dicks doing it.

Um, no.

' On April 8, with a month left in his tour, Cleland was ordered to set up a radio relay station on a nearby hill. A helicopter flew him and two soldiers to the treeless top of Hill 471, east of Khe Sanh. Cleland knew some of the soldiers camped there from Operation Pegasus. He told the pilot he was going to stay a while. Maybe have a few beers with friends.

When the helicopter landed, Cleland jumped out, followed by the two soldiers. They ducked beneath the rotors and turned to watch the liftoff. Cleland reached down to pick up the grenade he believed had popped off his flak jacket. The blast slammed him backward, shredding both his legs and one arm. He was 25 years old...

David Lloyd was a gung-ho, 19-year-old enlisted Marine, son of a Baltimore ship worker, who went to Vietnam because he "wanted to kill Communists."

On April 8, 1968, he was in a mortar pit on a hill near Khe Sanh when he heard an explosion. Shrapnel bounced off his flak jacket. He ran to the injured officer, a man named Max Cleland. 'Hold on there, captain,' Lloyd told Cleland. 'The chopper will be here in a minute.'

Lloyd took off his web belt and tied it around one of Cleland's shredded legs. When the medics arrived, he left to help another injured soldier - one of the two who had gotten off a helicopter with Cleland.

That soldier was crying. 'It was mine,' he said, 'it was my grenade.'

According to Lloyd, the private had failed to take the extra precaution that experienced soldiers did when they grabbed M-26 grenades from the ammo box: bend the pins, or tape them in place, so they couldn't accidentally dislodge. This soldier had a flak jacket full of grenades with treacherously straight pins, Lloyd says. "He was a walking death trap."'

Tell us again how Cleland was "stupid".

Holy crap you'd think they'd make them a little bit safer. Why not just bend or tape the pins at the factory?

ElQue: Yep. (McCain's) policy views are much worse than his appearance.

Yes, such as:
* Being one of the hardest working members of Congress when it comes to cutting wasteful government spending;

* Working to address global warming and develop clean energy;

* Continuing a record of bipartisan pragmatism he showed on McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Liebermann, etc. (you know, actual evidence of doing these things, instead of Obama's articulate, empty blather);

*Choosing not to precipitously and intentionally throw away the gains that have been hard-fought and are now indisputable in Iraq;

* Listening to our European allies in a way Bush never did.

* Direct, weekly Q-and-A's with Congress on the House floor.

Yeah, McCain's policies suck. Third term of Bushiaterrible person! Old!!!

/Your Obama worship and partisanship has made you all farking delusional.
