Still not as bad (or creepy) as Jessica Simpson's dad.

I'm not sure who would benefit more from the label, "American Idol Winner." It would seem that Cook would get runner-up and pretty much be free to do his own thing, a la Chris Daughtry. Now, Cook pretty much has to follow the "Idol" contract in terms of what music he can make.

That would've been better suited for Archuleta.

Have seen some of the contracts they have to sign in a Music Business class, and yeah you're probably alot better off coming in second or third than winning.

I feel sorry for the kid.
He can sing okay, but he's bland as fukkin toast.

FTFA:

American Idol runner-up David 'Archie' Archuleta has just hit the big time. The seventeen year old signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records, the same label that signed Idol winner David Cook. Both will be recording albums for Fall release.

Yeah, he's just as farked as Cook in terms of creative voice.

I am a huge Cook fan. Which is why I didn't want him to win...
AI hasn't really done a stellar job with their "winners".
Archuleta might be a little better off, since I think they have to use certain songs for Cook that were contracted before the season started.

That guy's Dad is making money anyway, because the kid is a minor, no matter what he does.

So try again, gossip blog asshole.

Uhh, I'd say Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood did pretty well for themselves. In fact, Kelly's career started to fall apart when she decided to go against the wishes of Clive Davis and created an unsellable album.

Winner or runner up, if they are given poor career guidance they will become forgettable very soon.

I have no idea who any of those people are. I think I like it that way.

as far as I know, the winners are only obligated to one album under the American Idol label. after that, they can do what they want. not surprisingly, both Clarkson and Underwood's second albums are the ones that got the most critical acclaim/record sales

I thought they were locked in for 5 years actually...
