Good night, trippyman.

When I was in high school, I tried to get into the Grateful Dead largely because of the skeleton-themed artwork.
When I found out the art had nothing to do with the music, I went ahead and moved on.

FTFA: "Kelley once explained that he found the illustration in a library book, enlarged the image, and added color and other details that dramatically changed it."

See, kids, that's how we copped someone else's work in the days before Photoshop.

/prefer Rick Griffin, anyway
//Griffin also died in Petaluma. Weird.

Are skeletons alive in your world?

Grateful D-E-A-D ...

I'm confused.

Why? Flashback?
I assumed the music would be much darker than it is.

I've had six different cars that have featured his art on the back window... And how many have had his work tattoo'd onto their person, I wonder? Safe trips on the Golden Road, inky man.

Yeah, I probably did too when first exposed to them. But I was a big fan in my teen years, though not a deadhead. I'm just a huge music fan and they fit nicely into my library. Their 65-72 stuff had some really rocking things going on. They mellowed out quite a bit after Pigpen died.

Dude. Griffin died of many broken bones after crashing his motorcycle, and Kelley died of osteoporosis. Plus Kelley did the posters for Bo Diddely, who died Monday.

Good thing too, you would have slowed down the entire movement.

There's no accounting for taste, different strokes for different folks and all that...

..but the Grateful Dead album covers were priceless masterpieces compared to their absolute craptacular rubbish music.

Good God, they sucked.

And I even tried listening to that drivel while tripping.

Didn't help.
