I'll be damned. I tried to post but it went to an error page so I had to resubmit. It was destiny, man.

I remember seeing these guys on whatever that MTV talk show was. They played Billy and Still of the Night if I remember correctly. I'll have to run home and dig out this CD. Thanks, subby!

Derwood 2008-06-04 09:19:07 AM
i too had this on cassette. in fact, this was one of the first "obscure" songs I sought out when Napster first hit the intrawebs.

Carmine Appice went from Vanilla Fudge to this?

I love Blue Murder. Sykes has a great playing style and voice. Their 2 albums are among my favorites.

I def remember this. It made the Hard 30 rotation on MTV for about a month in the late 80s. I remember watching this video after school. And like 2 months later, the Jellyroll video came out. This is a serious throwback. Good forgotten stuff.

John Sykes was/is a great guitar player with a massive sound.

Okay, I knowingly have completion issues (can't click through the channels and hit a movie without watching until the end even if I've seen it 12 times before, can't not finish a book even if it's a children's book and the child has fallen asleep before the end, stand ketchup bottles upside down in the fridge to get the last bits out, etc) but even I couldn't make it through THAT drek.

Derwood "Carmine Appice went from Vanilla Fudge to this?"

Not really.

He had some little bits in the middle with Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck, then did something called King Kobra before Blue Murder.

I saw him with Nugent, Blackfoot opened the show. Good times

Actually, from Vanilla Fudge, to co writing "do you think Im sexy" to this.

Sykes is all kinds of awesome. Tragically underrated. Most people forget his great contributions to Thin Lizzy as well.

He also played on Whitesnake's 2 best albums.
"Slide It In" and "Whitesnake" (AKA "1987")

earthshattering and mindblowing trivia:

the singer from king kobra is now a woman.
