Err huh?

"It became the best-selling album of 2005 with worldwide sales of 8.3 million. The lead single, "Speed of Sound",[27] made its radio and online music store debut on 18 April and was released as a CD on 23 May 2005.[28] The album debuted at #1 in 22 countries worldwide and was the third-fastest selling album in UK chart history."

if 8.3 million sold and that record of sales is a failure, I'd hate to be the band that lives up to submitters standards.

I don't care one bit about Coldplay.

Came to say the same thing. I think that X&Y is a pretty horrible album, but you can't deny its had huge commercial success in a time of low CD sales.

I just wanted to state, Coldplay sucks. That is all.

Coldplay is okay. They're no Jack Johnson or Nickelback though.

That said, can anyone explain why his label would force him to go solo? I thought they just paid the band the same based on expected sales regardless of how many people.

On the contrary, it sounds like he's floating exactly that out there.

"I'm afraid I can't do this going solo, I need my band chums to help me out."

"Oh thank you Chris, we're by your side too pal. And don't be so hard on yourself, you could probably make it solo if you had to."

"Oh you think so?"

ukiah: Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson is a pretty damn good songwriter who writes catchy little songs and performs them well. He's become successful because of that and he deserves it. What do you want from him, death metal?

He could do a quick solo record and tour and then hurry home. Gwyneth's making drumsticks.

There are other people in Coldplay?

you're right, sometimes i think jj and nickelback are worse than coldplay. and yes, my tent resides in the i-can't-stand-coldplay camp.
leave rock music to those who know how make it. that said, the newest monster magnet album is incredible

I want him to not write wretchedly awful ad jingle-sounding earworms, please. If he's such a good songwriter, why can't he use his powers for good instead of vomit-inducing evil?

Coldplay is pretty gay

Coldplay figured it out. Music for old people = profit. Old people can't figure out how to get music for free.

No, it's because they have money. And ethics.

For the record, I can't figure out why the song X & Y on X & Y isn't in English. Maybe I'm just crazy, will anyone else fess up to having the album and explain?

theworryrock [TotalFark] 2008-06-03 10:15:20 PM
he shouldn't fear going solo. He can't be more of a failure as a musician than he already is.

/i mean he *has* written the same song for...4? albums now

beachhousemike 2008-06-04 01:34:02 AM
I wish only that I could be as big a failure as Coldplay.
