I wonder how they caught him. People do stupid shiat when hauling marijuana, mistakes that coke mules tend not to make. You aren't supposed to dress suspiciously. It helps if your automobile doesn't stand out. The kicker is people who farking speed on the expressway while hauling.

I don't know why they carry so much in one haul. If 10 trips separates probation and five years in prison, then take the 10 trips.

Unless they were profiled, I don't see how people get caught hauling pot other than their own mistakes.

Lived in a place where kid kept going in and out of the complex in 15 minute spurts..Obviously delivering. And friends kept coming over for 2 minutes and then leaving..Obviously picking up weed.
And if you get caught with weed at a roadblock? Roadblocks are only for looking for drunks. So tell the judge that and get off...

Um, judges have discretion with sentencing. First offense, probably not getting the maximum penalty (which is what you quoted). Second, still probably not. More offenses? Yes, it's justice at that point.

Suicidal Writer:

insiders, I have read many many DEA reports where someone talked, usually because if the DEA is involved you are looking at 20 years for a first offense (max if career offendered, which in the feds is 2 or more prior charges for guns or violent offences, regardless of sentence, or which state/country/etc the charges came from). There are 2 carer offender classes, drugs fall into the "violent" ones so basically you end up about at the max of whatever it was that you did.

As for profiling, there is a slight problem with the way that happens. And maybe someone will bring this up in court sometime to challenge the "probable cause" claims, and ultimately get this to stop (ha!).

The profile is X because that is what X types do
But the profile is also anti-X because if you were trying to hide you would do the opposite.

This means that EVERYONE fits a profile. Real life examples, fast food wrappers in the car is the profile of a drug courier "driving hard and fast" lack of fast food wrappers is the profile of a drug courier who is trying to not look like a courier.

Quick facts:
Cops are allowed to lie to obtain a confession, get permission to search, etc. Dont believe them, they cant make deals, only the persecutor can. They may make some vague thing where they will talk to the persecutor, even recommend a low sentence, but really that is a meaningless promise because it carries no weight (especially if not in writing).

drug dogs are not "probable cause" on their own, they cant indicate why they are barking specifically so by itself they cant use that. This is why they have used fast food wrappers, personal hygine items, etc to supplement the dog to claim probable cause.

"probable cause" not mere suspicion is required to get a search warrant, if you make them get the warrant you have their story on record, if they lied in the affidavidt you can get the case thrown out (sometimes), you have basically pinned them down. If you have something in your car do not let them search it, make them get the warrant. At least that way there is a chance the judge wont sign it, or if he does that you can get it tossed. If you give them permission you have no chance. They will often say that "it will be worse on you" if they have to get one, they will say things like they cant get one no problem, but why are they spending so much effort trying to avoid actually getting one? Could it be they know that they dont have enough of a case? Again remember the dog by itself has been ruled by the courts to not be enough on its own.

You have the right to not answer questions or really say anything (unless under arrest then you have to identify yourself, and nothing more). USE IT. People often are arrested because they cant keep their mouths shut. Or they will try to tell some quick story, get confused with it, or their friends tell a different story, whatever. You cant be charged with lying to the cops if you dont say anything. Note: cops can lie you to, its a crime for you to lie to them. Nice system eh?

Be polite, if you are an ass guess what they will be? If you politely state that you hold the constitution dear, and refuse to waive any rights (the 5th gives you the right to not answer questions or make a statement, 6th access to a lawyer and due process) and if they tell you to do something ask them politely without talking down to them or anything, if doing that is required and if it would violate your rights. Explain why at least once so that they dont think that you are just being a problem person (they are likely to anyway, cops generally dont like people challenging the authority they think they have even if its because the constitution says they dont have that power).

Indiana recently changed the license plate design, so everyone who renewed had to get new plates instead of just the sticker. Well, this one guy I know got his plate. The plate number? "420247" - that's right, his license plate reads 420 24/7. The kicker? He doesn't even smoke.

I'll be blunt: This is a growing problem in America, and the authorities need to roll up their sleeves, weed out offenders, and throw them in the joint. I'm bowled over whenever I read a story like this, and say we need need to put a lid on it. We have to hash out some plans to put an end to the chronic issue of people growing pot for green. Let me reefer you to some statistics: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/drugs/charts/

Dank you for your time.

Whether or not I agree with the fact that a certain law exists has no effect on its existence.

But I was merely pointing out that articles always quote the maximum penalty for the crime, which does not always reflect the reality of the situation. So if a judge says "ok, we're going to slap you on the wrist, but you can't do that," then you show up again, and he says "dude, wtf? i guess we're going to have to show you we're serious that you can't do that so here's a little more of a slap on both wrists" and then you show up yet again, at that point the judge has no choice but to say "alright dickhead, you obviously have no respect for the law or me, so maximum penalty idiot. No freedom for you, not yours."

New managment/ownership - They improved the stage area but it seems like promotion is about zero. Played a gig there last August (3 bands on the bill) and I think they maybe had 30 people through.

Not the mecca it used to be.
