Bogus

JerseyTim [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 05:43:42 PM
school is out and it's a sort of a buzz
back then I didn't really know what it was
but now I see what have of this
the way that people respond to summer madness

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 06:00:40 PM
Why isn't this in the article?

It's the ultimate summer jam!

RoxtarRyan [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 06:01:44 PM
This is quite the shiat list. No "Boys of Summer", "Summer of 69", "Sweet Home Alabama" (a classic backyard BBQ song), or any other classic greats?

/they might as well have had M&M on the farking list, it was so shiatty

oldebayer [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 06:09:45 PM
So let me see if I got this right: they LIST the songs, and then expect you to go out and find them all on your own? No links? WTF?

/Warning to all who got this far without clicking on TMLO's link: don't.

Except for Flight of the Conchords, that's pretty crappy.

Dr.Knockboots [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 06:25:44 PM
Okay.. i listened to every one of those songs.. and they all sucked. -sorry big Boi.. that song may be decent, but not "summer" music.

Nothing made me feel like I wanted to run off to the lake or beach.. nothing sounded like good BBQ music.. nothing made me reminisce (Pete Rock style) over old summer memories. Nothing sounded like good campfire music..

wow.. just terrible music.

TheJoe03 [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 06:47:23 PM
I think Royal Flush with Raekwon is a farkin tight song, what you talking about http://Dr.Knockboots/? It might not be a summer anthem, but it still is a good song.

Whoops, used the wrong tags in that last post.

Funnily enough, Vampire Weekend was the first thing that came to mind when I read the headline. Ever since I got the album I've been looking forward to driving around with the windows open and Oxford Comma on the stereo.

theurge14 2008-06-01 07:20:22 PM
Good list, especially the Ting Tings, Outkast (and Raekwon!) and Vampire Weekend.

Jason McFarkster 2008-06-01 08:00:06 PM
What about the song "Holy fark I'm in Phoenix and it's 200 degrees and my skin is melting and my balls are sticking to me legs God kill me now"?

Hey... Because People in power are Stupid.. Have you heard their new album yet? I thought Passover was great. I just found out they have a new one and wonder how it sounds.

FeedTheCollapse 2008-06-01 09:33:51 PM
that Raveonettes album is farking terrible. I love me some Jesus and Mary Chain, but what the hell was that crap? Maybe I'm used to the relatively deep voices of Jim and William, but JAMC with upper-register vocals is just grating.

it's good. More psychedelic than the first one. There's also some kind of companion EP that was released along with it as well.

oldandwiser 2008-06-01 09:50:23 PM
Thanks.. FeedTheCollapse... I will have to get it.

drewbidy 2008-06-01 10:48:01 PM
My suggestions are as follows.

Raining Blood-Slayer
Seek and Destroy-Metallica
Hanger 18-Megadeth
Hammer Smashed Face-Cannibal Corpse
Fear of the Dark-Iron Maiden
Painkiller-Judas Priest

radioberlin 2008-06-01 11:10:44 PM
My summer tunes are things like Dookie by Green Day, Nevermind the Bollocks from the Pistols, maybe some Rancid too. There's nothing like feeling 14 again.

Threads like this remind me of what awful taste in music most Farkers have.

Maybe awful isn't the right word... outdated might be what I'm looking for.

I'm going to see Vampire Weekend on Saturday. I was wary of them because of all the hype, but every now and then hype is deserved. I'm interested to see what kind of a live show they put on.

huskers97 2008-06-02 01:04:04 AM
Just gotta throw my 2 cents in here and say that the hype around Vampire Weekend is deserved. Catchy as all hell, I loved every song but maybe one on their album. It hasn't left my CD player since I bought it.

As for the list, it might have been better headlined as, "some good songs that just happen to be coming out in the summer."

Unfortunately your crappy picks are worse than their shiatty list. That's why I hate these lists. Random list-making people (or magazines) don't know what sounds good to me so there's no reason for them to try and tell me what's "good" when they really don't have a damn clue.

/stfu and keep your nose outta my cd player
//musically ignorant boneheads

I love music threads, because there's always a some retarded stuck-up music snob who comes in and posts drivel like this.

It's especially hysterical because you're a percussionist. So you're a musical genius who plays the drums? That's like being the smartest kid on the short bus.

You don't like someone's list? Go listen to whatever clownshoe music you get off on. No one gives a shiat about your opinion.

Considering it was specfically new songs to enjoy this summer, and not simply "SONGS ABOUT SUMMER", yes.

Not a snob or a genius and never said I was. I just don't like people telling me what the hottest new thing is because it's almost always horrible. I'm a drummer, so what? Blow me, assmunch.

And your musical credentials are...? Oh wait, you don't have the balls to put anything about yourself in your profile allowing you to lash out anonymously and be Mr Internet Tough Guy.

/bravo
//you're so awesome

ElTaco 2008-06-02 02:51:43 AM
I'm surprised they didn't put the Flobots on there since everyone is loving that annoying farking no handlebars song.

I'd rather be an Internet Tough Guy than an ignorant, condescending fat bastard.

Yup, true to form. You probably just tinkled in your pants with excitement as you typed that, right?

How about a little of the Sweet Poontang?

It always takes me back to the summer keggers of my youth.

"Boys of Summer" may have summer in the title, but it's really more of an autumn song.

PYROY 2008-06-02 11:21:15 AM
Sorry, I don't listen to anything that has feat. after the title.

Here are the first six songs that start my summer.

More Than a Feeling
Peace of Mind
Foreplay/Long Time
Rock and Roll Band
Smokin'
Hitch a Ride

XTeacher 2008-06-02 11:54:16 AM
This (new window)is my favorite summer song, and it is not even a rickroll.

Cervantes3773 2008-06-02 12:25:59 PM
What? No love for "Summertime" By The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff?

/Or the excellent remix of that song by Hybrid

pleaseleavemebe [TotalFark] 2008-06-02 03:58:10 PM
XTeacher: is my favorite summer song,

Why do people do this all of the time?

Just put the name of your stupid song on the link.

Do you honestly think anyone is pleasantly surprised when they blindly click on an anonymous link- it is almost guaranteed disappointment.

pleaseleavemebe [TotalFark] 2008-06-02 03:59:08 PM
This coming from a fan of Husker du.

I hope you're trolling. Otherwise, my best guess is you're the guy who chooses the music and sound effects at the triple-a baseball games.

I'd add Island's Jogging Gorgeous Summer, or almost anything of the same album.
