Thanks guys for your help on this. Sorry you had to have a retarded right-wing loudmouth in power at the same time we did. Sorry you had to get dragged into this mess that we caused.

Glad to see you are all home alive. I wish we could say the same in the US. I hope we can get the rest of our folks home alive.

And aren't you all just so precious for thinking you had the reins. Sorry the lap you were sitting in while you "drove the car" was the poorest excuse for a President we've seen in over a century though. I'm honestly glad to see you got out earlier than we will.

It's ok because Australian lives are more important than Iraqi lives.

Great guys, thanks for stopping by. We'll see you in another decade or so when we need to keep these dominoes from tumbling again.

I guess this means that Iraqi police battalions aren't still dropping their weapons at the first sign of trouble and it's safe to go home because the Iraqis are pulling their share of stabilizing the country.

The USA is the only nation left in the "Coalition of the Willing".

That'd be comical if the whole exercise wasn't so pointless and bloody.

Think of that as a Coalition of One.

Shouldn't confuse the command with the commander.

Good to hear our Aussie cousins are goin' home. Throw a shrimp on the barbie for all of us, gang!

We still have the British and the Polish among others. While I think their support for our efforts there is incredibly generous and (hopefully) appreciated, I'd rather our alliances not be stained by this entire escapade.

Ah well, good on the Australians for all they've done.

Poland's contribution is significant. I can't understand why "You forgot Poland" is such a joke. Sure, it's ridiculous in the context it was used, but you can't belittle their commitment just to snipe at our president.

... Secret Service guys, I mean verbally. Please don't park the partyvan in front of my house.

No troops have been lost in combat, though an Australian flight lieutenant, Paul Pardoel, died while serving with the British air force, and a private, Jacob Kovco, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

You know who else was austrian and died from a self inflicted gunshot wound?

Of course, when the government talks about the Coalition of the Willing, they don't usually mention that, aside from the Brits, pretty much no one else was actually signed on for combat roles. Hell, because of their rules, the Japanese had to have the Dutch set up their perimeters, let alone actually fight bad guys.

You don't have to be a liberal or a whiner to see what an utterly ill-conceived failure this war is. You just have to pay attention.

Anorbius 2008-06-01 03:14:46 PM
With a useless war costing us trillions of dollars, it's not just the liberals who are whining.

We young, fiscally-responsible-minded people are whining because we know exactly who this buck's getting passed to. People my age are paying for this stupidity with their lives. I'll be paying for it later with my wages.

I think we have the right to whine.

Kevin72 2008-06-01 03:14:47 PM

Way to go, champ, you keep attacking that messenger without in any way defending your side with facts or intellect. It's even better that you've taken that extra step of trivializing the death of over 4k soldiers and expense of billions in your mindless quest to attack "the enemy", who is, of course, everyone who disagrees with you. That gives it that extra bit of special.

It's the stupidest cartoon I've ever seen, as well. It's somehow implying that because we don't support troops they can't sneak up stairs.

It doesn't make any sense.

I wish he'd come back so you could see for yourself the meltdown that would ensue when it's explained why this war is illegal, why Bush is a war criminal, and why the rest of the world still continues to hate us for doing things like this.

Plus, guess what? Soldiers DO need to make sure they don't make the situation worse by pissing off folks that aren't trying to kill us there and may need an excuse. So this "don't offend my religion" or "don't kill civilians" ones they laugh at is actually taken by the US high command VERY seriously. The last thing we need is everyone else trying to kill us there.
