When he gets back, a reporter action figure going to ask him if the trip was faked, and will be subsequently punched out!

I think a Ken Doll would be appropriate. Then he'll be carried away by G.I. Joe MP's.

I have it on good authority that Buzz will be bringing a 'friend'.

Do the youth of this nation collectively fear BOOKS when learning about math and science? It's terrific that we're trying to get them interested through the use of fictional kid's movies characters, but it's such a paltry first step.

Kind of like being inspired to become a lawyer by watching Harvey Birdman.

Seriously, I mean that. Would the Chinese space program ever do something this incredibly dumb and yet wonderful?

You mean Disney actually did this to interest kids in space travel and not to cross-promote their BRAND NEW Toy Story Mania Attraction!?!?! OPENING MAY 2008!!!?!??! NO WAI!

I look forward to the space shuttle or whatever else NASA will use to launch space missions covered in 'endorsement' stickers. They launch from Florida, if they did that ala NASCAR they could get the rednecks too.

Hey, if having the space shuttle covered in corporate logos will give NASA more positive exposure and funding to do more expansive space exploration, than I have no problem with it. Hell, have the astronauts eat only approved "brand" food items in their webcam shows back to earth, if it will get us more manned missions to the moon and mars. No one else seems to want to pay for it.

dankery 2008-06-01 12:07:30 PM
Wow. SO this is what NASA does in their free time...Kudos, guys. Maybe some day we can send our farking toys to Mars!

/Seriously, though, playing with toys?

NASA seems to be on a publicity blitz, they have had from space interviews with Mike and Mike and the Colbert report recently. The Buzz and Buzz is aimed at the younger adults/kids to help spur interest in the space program, the video was cheezy but fun too.

I am all for it, NASA does critical research that pays off in the long run.

/Good luck $10 million toilet of destiny

It's not news, it's an ad.

Excerpt from science curriculum e-text, Copyright 2213:

"The Cold war led to many advancements in science and technology. Perhaps the most interesting event is the landing on the moon. The United States of America (now known as US.Gov.Inc) was the socio-political entity with enough disposable income to send a series of missions to the moon. The Apollocreed 11 was the first to actually touch down. Louis Armstrong and Buzz Lightyear were the first humans to actually set foot on the moon. A third astrocos, Phil Collins, remained in the orbiter."

i love how nasa has slowly gotten a personality. its the only way to get the public more involved and thus, get more funding.

I have watched that video at least a hundred times...

And, yet, I will always click on it.

"You're a coward, and a liar, and" WHACK!

Classic.

Have you noticed that in all the re-runs they have that line cut out? Makes me sad.

CowboyUpCowgirlDown 2008-06-01 05:52:36 PM
Mr. Foilhat outweighed him by (at least) 75 pounds, was 10 inches taller, and perhaps 45 years younger. Yet Aldrin, wearing a coat and tie, takes one small step towards him and BAMMMM!!! knocks him on his heels. I only wish we could see the rest of the video to watch him cry.

One small sucker punch for Buzz, one giant crash for Mr. Foilhat's hyperinflated ego. Don't fark with NASA's Apollo Alumni: and don't call old school a coward or a liar.

I'll bet there's not one person on today's Shuttle who would take a punch at a taunting asshat. Let alone 45 years from now.

CowboyUpCowgirlDown 2008-06-01 05:55:05 PM
My bad: Gemini not Apollo.
