Don't worry, this guy will bust someone's chops and have them flying rubber dog shiat out of Hong Kong instead.

i'm a little confused... is it the dog that's made of rubber or is it the poop?

Gyrfalcon [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 01:59:42 AM
Yeah, whatever. That's not even a massive earthquake here in So Cal. Over in Taiwan probably no one woke up.

I'm kidding, it was pretty bad.

Was watching a show last night on the "Tapei 101" building and how it is designed to withstand earthquakes... be interesting to see how it took this one.

No one cares about Taiwan, how did Taipei 101 do, did it take damage?

Internet Disease 2008-06-01 02:08:52 AM
Is the headline supposed to be referencing Top Gun? Because is so, that's stupid - Hong Kong and Taiwan are two entirely separate places.

If it's not referencing Top Gun, then I guess the implication is that Taiwan exports cheap crap like rubber dog poop. This is also stupid, because Taiwan manufacturing is the second most expensive in Asia after Japan (who hardly manufactures anything anymore). Taiwanese products are among the best in the world. For example, Taiwanese bicycles, particularly those made by Maxway, are highly regarded, and the workmanship rivals that of the best Italian builders like Pinarello

Garbage like rubber dog poop would be made in mainland China, or else some other part of the Asian subcontinent, but probably not Taiwan.

hey, in northern Taiwan here, I'm kinda paranoid about quakes coming from the prairies. I didn't even feel this one though. I think it's a conspiracy.

Much as we all love quakes near china atm I don't think it's very newsworthy :)

My friend lives in Fuzhou. I'll need to ask her if she felt this.

Jawas666 [TotalFark] 2008-06-01 02:13:59 AM
Well seeing as the earthquake was 340 miles from Taipei in the Batan Islands in the Philippines I would says Taipei 101 is doing just fine. Also according to the USGS it was a 6.4.

I mean 'because I come from the prairies' Not quakes originating from the north American prairies and damaging Taiwan .. yeah.

If it is anything like the last earthquake in Taiwan, we can expect computer memory to soar at about that. Of course I was planning on ordering 2gb next week....

Meanwhile, chinesse officials believe it's time to take back what is theirs.

/Taiwan should remain/be sovereign

THIS.

RAM prices jumped to stupid amounts last time Taiwan had a quake. Hopefully no manufacturing plants were damaged this time. Regardless, if you were planning on upgrading your rig in the next 6 months, get that memory now.

Mason, what are you doing up? Don't you have rig the elections or something in the morning? I know, I know, I can't sleep either knowing that eyeball in the pyramid is always watching me, but we should try to get some shut eye. The Jews are counting on us.

WOW. This has got to be the most earthquakes above 6.0 that we have ever had (China, Iceland and now Thailand). Plus all within a few months. Keeps up like this in the ring of fire, we may end up with a 2nd moon.

The book of Revelations says that natural disasters will increase in frequency as we approach the End Times. Just makes you wonder.

Is California next?

Lived in Taiwan for a bit. Great country. Semi-frequent earthquakes rule too

ssrat 2008-06-01 12:03:04 PM
If it HAD hit Taiwan, I would me more worried about where my motherboards/video cards would be coming from, than rubber dog crap (was barely relevant then, sure as hell less relevant now)

Not sure where the Q6600's are made
