Oh joy, is it that time of year already? We get to see endless stories of "I'm a staying right here!" from random locals and moronic weather people in slickers, swaying in the breeze.

You are excellent at multitasking, then, my friend. Good luck to you! Maybe you'll find time to just fall in love, too.

I won a game of Trivial Pursuit with a Christopher Cross question/answer. I.e., who sang the theme to Arthur.

the best i could do, was fall in love with that headline :D

Elmo Jones 2008-05-31 05:56:45 PM
For the love of the FSM, do NOT call your local classic rock radio station and request "Riding The Storm Out", "Riders On The Storm", or any such crap. We'll get around to it, soon enough.

CaptainBeer 2008-05-31 05:58:51 PM
I actually sang the last few words of that headline. Thanks. Made me chuckle.

No kidding. Isn't it funny how the price at the pump goes up with the price of a barrel...yet, when the price of the barrel drops, we see no change at the pump, and it may even continue to rise. Could an expert in spin doctoring please explain?

Yakk 2008-05-31 06:41:38 PM

It's now legal in Louisiana to shoot at hurricanes.

SustainedHavoc 2008-05-31 06:56:07 PM
meofcourse77-

Actually, I'll answer your question even though you already know the answer.

They sell it, you'll pay it. Now, when you and millions just like you stop paying it, the price will stop going up and may even decrease.

Oh, and some of those other millions of people are in other countries, and they'll keep paying for it and the price will continue to spiral upwards.

Meanwhile, just pay it. You don't want to make the billionaires unhappy, do you?

I really wish I had a choice. I can't afford a hybrid, or any new car for that matter. There is not a good public transit system here, so I am screwed there. I don't make any unnecessary trips anywhere (Work, Wal-mart & Home). My only choice is to try and take my old, paid off pickup and make it as fuel efficient as I can. They got us by the short hairs and they know it.

SustainedHavoc 2008-05-31 07:57:41 PM
YixilTesiphon-

And a poor troll at that. Go ahead, prove me wrong on my previous statement.

No, you can't. Just keep paying.

I expect you won't be the only one with this problem. It's a fairly obscure reference, but not impossible.

Thanks subby I almost forgot how much I hate the farking song, and every other damn thing Cristopher Cross wrote or sung.

/Arthor was funny at the time, but try to watch it again, I dare you. Lame, Lame, Lame.

Most comedies don't age well unless they are timeless classics like

They need to change the list of hurricane names. Arthur???

Should be Allstate. Then Brownie, Chertoff, Dubya, Entergy (the suckass New Orleans electric company), FEMA...(skipping a few local references)...Kathleen, Lootie, MRGO, Nagin...

sorebones 2008-05-31 10:06:42 PM
I only know that song because of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Yeah, I saw the movie years later, but it's still a Chipmunks song to me.
