But I thought since he visited there, he would know everything about what's going on? Huh.

FTA: Not to be outdone by Obama, who danced when he visited recently, Clinton stood on a stage surrounded by politicians and notables, swaying her hips and clapping as a band played booming Latin hip-hop.

I am so glad that I missed that.

I would have thought he'd know, seeing as how they were pretty much all acting as human shields while he went shopping.

Jacobin 2008-05-31 06:38:18 PM
That's not important. What's important to know is that McCain will keep winning and winning and winning and winning and winning for the next eleventyhundred million years. Its a never ending victory and that's the best kind.

USA USA USA USA

Yet another senior moment.

Well... to be fair. One is a number that increments by one every day and the other takes knowledge of troops coming in and leaving iraq which is fairly often.

EdgeRunner 2008-05-31 06:52:07 PM
He didn't do a headcount while he was there? That's just shameful.

Aernis 2008-05-31 06:52:09 PM
Did he say this while riding in an unarmored humvee in an iraqi market?

i still don't get what the big deal about him not visiting Iraq... i guess he could be losing their mail in vote but... wth? Iraq isn't voting...

It's okay. Some of the troops get to come home.

FTA: There are about 20,000 more U.S. troops in Iraq now than before President Bush's troop buildup -- about 155,000, Pentagon officials said Friday.

Obama seized on McCain's comments, saying 150,000 are in Iraq.

If I am reading things correctly McCain missed the number by 5000. Really? We're making a headline over 3.2%? I guess there's no such thing as rounding or significant figures.

By Price is Right rules they should both be disqualified from the presidency. I heard, Bob Barr only guessed that there was one soldier in Iraq. While obviously far below the actual numbers, his bid was the closest without going over and he wins by default.

You're not.

McCain stated that we have drawn down to pre-surge levels, he missed by 20,000.
Obama missed by 5000.

I interpreted as there were about 135,000 in Iraq before the troop buildup, the surge added about 50,000, there are currently 155,000. McCain said there was currently less than BEFORE the surge, so he didn't give numbers but intimated to a person that DOES know the numbers that there would be about 135,000. Meanwhile Obama corrected him and said there were about 150,000. So Obama used a quantitative word and was off by 5,000 and McCain used a qualitative word and was off quantitatively by 20,000. But his usage of the qualitative word makes him outright wrong.

Ignore this! Can't you see Obama's black?! HE'S BLACK! How can anything else matter11!1/1!!?/?

While John McCain can tell you how many days its been since Obama visited Iraq, and Obama can tell you how many troops we have on the ground in Iraq, only Hillary can tell you how many votes she needs to have disqualified in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Territories of Guam and American Samoa in order for her to be the unqualified winner of the Presidential Election in November 2008 AND November 2012.

So which one's numbers qualitatively and quantitatively should give us more cause for concern?

defects 2008-05-31 10:27:06 PM
Okay so exactly how many troops are there? I know it's not 135,000 on the money. Also how many jelly beans were in that jar?

I Know!

I Know!

Pick me!

The one who's too senile to effectively communicate to us or the world?

The one who sings 'Bomb Iran'?

The one who thinks knowing Jack Kemp will save the economy?

Today's GOP strategy: "Hey, Obama. You know that war in Iraq that you were always against? We want you to GO THERE and see what an enormous human tragedy we've created."

If this inanity has become a major issue for republicans this may be one of the most amusing campaigns ever, as it seems apparent to me that the republicans have gone completely around the bend.

Dem: "So you and your party farked up the country, are you afraid you're going to lose your spot in the minds of the people?"

Rep: "Nope. They're going to elect us again to fix the problems!"

Dem: "But you created the problems in the first place, don't you think your incompetence is only going to create even more issues?"

Rep: "You haven't physically BEEN in Iraq. You don't KNOW!"

/ No political conversations make sense anymore

Then I guess southaustin failed. Undoubtedly, the intention of posting that picture in this thread was to make us angry.

Why does Obama need to visit Iraq? He was against the war from the beginning (he wasn't a senator then and couldn't vote or anything but he spoke against it). Obama going to Iraq and reporting on how farked up it is can only hurt McCain.
