Sounds like all that is left is a phone call.

Make the call, Roger. You two have a lot to talk about.

It's not inconceivable that they may reunite for one show sometime in the future after David's well-earned time out sitting on his ass?

Where do I get my ticket?

I would love to see some isolated shows, a new dvd. Zeppelin proved that it can be done well, that it can be a critical and popular success. Here's hoping for Roger Dave Rick and Nick having a nice long dinner together and discussing it

Personally I like to believe (and deceive myself) that Waters' DSOTM tour was also doubling as a test to see if they could still pull off a world tour of The Wall. (Heavy emphasis on deceiving myself).

I'd love to see them get together and do a tour featuring mainly their older, pre-DSOTM material.

Shortly after they reunite, they'll perform live on MTV, and right when they're about to launch into their most popular hit, MTV will go to a commercial for Clearasil.

That'd be great. Dunno if Roger's voice could still pull off that drawn out scream that peaked Careful With That Axe, Eugene, but Free Four would be great, as would Fat Old Sun.

/memories of tripping balls on purple dragon blotter; guttering candles, and the room getting lighter as dawn crept in. Transcendental times.

i think pink floyd is a a far cry from zep, the police or aerosmith.

they have never been the high energy, run around the stage type. they have always pretty much just stood there and played. its the huge crazy shiat going on around them that made the "stage show". they can all still play, so i don't really see a problem with it.

roger's voice has gotten a bit dodgy, but its not terrible, and it actually kinda grows on you. i love his solo stuff, and his voice is pretty much gone on all those records.

what god wants, god gets. pleeeeeeease let god want a reunion tour

Waters played Sheep on the DSOTM tour. I saw it in Boston, where were you? .. (Also saw just the encore in West Palm Beach)

Derwood 2008-05-31 12:31:55 PM
Dave did Echoes and Fat Old Sun on his solo tour.

This isn't a cash grab either. Past interviews indicate that Dave would probably only do this if it were for a charity

I saw him do Dogs on the In the Flesh tour. I missed the more recent Waters tour. But I want to see one or both of those songs with all four of them playing (and the 1000 other musicians they always have on stage).

Would you pay a scalper $240.00 to see a reunited Pink Floyd, even if the ticket's face value was $60?

I would, and so would many others. Why not let the artist get teh money instead of the scalper?

I just watched this last night.

The last word from Dave Gilmour on getting back together again?

'Ain't gonna happen'.

I hope they will get back for one one-off event like they did for Live8, which in the documentary all members seemed really glad to have done.

If it happens again, I'll be there.

Cooper420 2008-05-31 01:02:00 PM
Well I'd say there's a money grab whenever a huge band goes back out. But at least Gilmour isn't that much of a greedy asshole.

He sold a house of his for $6.5 Million and gave all of the money away. He lives in a small farm house mostly.

Anyway, I dont see a tour and as far as Roger doing DSOM to test for The Wall, I dont think so. He's working on putting The Wall on broadway, and he's got his Ci Ira project going too.

If they do a one off, it will be for a global charity event or a major music industry event (other artist or colleague anniversary or rememberance)

Either way, lets hope we get more than 15 minutes next time!

sure .. but.. you and the rest of PF also created the masterpiece Wish You Were Here ... ditto for DSOTM ...

sforce: Personally I like to believe (and deceive myself) that Waters' DSOTM tour was also doubling as a test to see if they could still pull off a world tour of The Wall. (Heavy emphasis on deceiving myself).

I was lucky enough to see the tour in '80, at Nassau. Talk about blown away. Incredible staging and effects. It's a blur now, but even then, I had a hard time keeping reality together. And I was relatively straight, just a bit smoked up. Really well done. Masks, costumes, animation. The gradual building of the wall was very cool. About the best single show I've ever seen. I also saw the Animals tour. Real good, but didn't even compare.
Would love for them to do a tour, like I'd love to catch a Zep reunion. I don't expect it to be as good as their heyday, but it beats the hell out of most of the crap in the huge venues these days.

I agree with you, and know that it would never happen - especially because of everything thats needed to do The Wall live as it is - the cost would be insane. That comment mostly stems from one of the two or three interviews he did this year. I'd have to look it up but some things he said in it sounded like he was eluding to the fact that something more was coming; that the DSOTM tour made him realize he could still do an all out world tour and fill stadiums/arenas and that he was enjoying it more than he thought...

Hope that made some sense.

Rarely do I feel privileged when reading posts on Fark but this time I really do. I got to see Pink Floyd play in Anaheim stadium on the Animals tour. They played Animals and Wish You Were Here and encored with "Money". The stage was in center field and they had speakers in 4 locations. They could make the sound go from speaker stack to speaker stack making it feel like all of Anaheim stadium was spinning - and I was cold stone sober!!! Awesome. And there were just the 4 fellas up there, no multitudes. Maybe backup singers, I can't remember. Then I got to seem them play The Wall in LA. It cost me all of $15. Wow. I fell like a fairly lucky dude now. I wouldn't pay $250 to a scalper to see them now though, I'll just have to stick with my memories.

I did ALMOST get a tear in my eye seeing them together at Live Aid (or whatever it was) but I too almost threw out my TV because of evil MTV.

That Animals/Wish concert is pretty much my dream set... though I'd want some Meddle for good measure.

The Live Aid set can be found online without MTV ruining it.

Are you aware that there is a video of one of those nights that can be downloaded through some torrent sites? It's audience shot (2 DVD's worth) but it's great. There's also a pro-shot from Earl's Court in Feb 1981 as well.

http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/the-wall/the-wall-on-broadway-official-press-relea se.html

In 2004 it was announced with plans to bring it to broadway. Like Elton John, and Queen and Abba.... except you've got the story in the album, all you really need is the actors and everything else has been taken care of.

I remember reading something where Roger said it gave him a chance to put a bit more humour into The Wall.

Not for nothing, but in my advanced (yet humble) opinion, David Gilmour is a douche.

I like the idea of the band getting back together, but in reality, would the moldier versions of themselves not taint the great music I've enjoyed so much?
