C-SPAN?
Millions of Americans will fall back asleep watching it.

Oh please let it be the rumored Jessica Alba/Scarlett Johansson sex tape?

Yeesh. I'd rather do the yard work I'm currently avoiding.

There hasn't been a reason to turn on the TV on Saturday morning since the Sci-Fi Channel stopped running MST3K.

GaryPDX [TotalFark] 2008-05-31 08:50:25 AM
More like, "Look, The democrats are changing their own rules in a smoky back room again".

Why the hell is there even going to be a convention now?

/grin

I think there's a strategy going on here. The TF'ers get riled up and the Liters love it. Raise the hit count.

This thing isn't televised is it? the inside workings?

I think it's Andrea and her zits talking from the front porch.

and for the first hour and a half, Liters will go "Where is the Committee Thread?" and continueally submit links.

I have worked at the Wardman for multiple committee/Board meetings, their food isn't the best. and the place... IS dark.

So it's a "dark" smoky back room. That's even better..:)

Hopefully they'll do the right thing and stick with the rules they already have in place. Giving Hillary any delegates from Michigan without giving some to Obama will show that they have no spine whatsoever.

I kid mostly..but I just don't get it. They're basically choosing the nominee today. So what would be the point of Denver now, other than dinner theater?

Dude, you've been riding this point all day. By your logic, there shouldn't be a GOP convention either.

lol..it's dinner theater now too. Seriously, they're changing the rules..again..today. I'm just pointing out the obvious and it seems everyone is more interested in avoiding a train wreck in Denver than the rules already set in place.

I mean really..c'mon..:) Why is it sooo important to NOT let this play out?

I am looking forward to seeing how this is going to be done.

I wonder how many protesters will come out during the meeting.

that's pretty much entirely the point. they're meeting to resolve the issues because they don't want to go to denver.

Dude, this is shaping up as the most entertaining piece of television in a long time. I can't count the logical misteps in the rhetoric. It's amazing. They are actually shaping the selection of the nominee over the votes 2 months ahead of the Convention where this is supposed to take place. It's just amazing.

I know..but it seems like a slap in the face at a time where the Dem's want to be in power. It just seems like very odd to be using words like "brain dead" when talking about the highest Justices in the land. I'm like.."Whoa" with a Keanu Reeves accent.

Isn't it a bit of a conflict of interest to be a superdelegate and be on the party rules and bylaws committee?

no they aren't. they have a nominee. the result of this committee cannot overcome his lead.

the conventions of both parties are generally nothing but a rally before the general election, or in this case, the last few months of it.

it's not amazing unless you're trying reeeeeeally hard to insist that obama isn't already the presumptive nominee. clinton thinks this meeting is about her candidacy, but to the party as a whole, it is about what they will do to make amends with florida and michigan, or if they will stick to the rules.

Harold Ickes in on the committee... and is one of Hillary Clinton's top Advisors.

All of the Committee members are SD's.

I'm so geeking out for this.

The guy makes a point about the 50% thing. Of course the Hillary representatives will yell "Disenfranchisement!" and try to get 100%. I think we'll see 50%. Whether or not Hillary tries to bring this to the Credentials Committee, I seriously have no idea. It would be incredibly silly to try that, but I've said that about 5 times about Hillary's campaign right before she did something silly.

i'm interested to see the counter argument, if there is something in the rules elsewhere that overrides what this guy is talking about. the geek in me wishes i had a copy of the charter here printed out.
