naw...It doesn't do a damn thing if you KNOW they are going to act like idiots ahead of time. Then, you can plan for the asshattery. The only way asshats can disrupt things is if you don't know the asshats are going to make an attempt to disrupt things.

A couple hundred screeching harpies on the steps outside is going to make as much difference to the proceedings as Hillary has of winning the nomination: Zero.

I respect their right to protest, but once Obama's the nominee they need to STFU and back him. Or else you'll see this same pack of harpies out protesting when McCain's Supreme Court picks help overturn Roe v. Wade.

You forget, in her mind, she makes the rules

They should just give half the delegates to Obama and the other half to Hillary.

I have a bad feeling this could turn into the florida recount mess in 2000.

Under the current rule, she already is getting half the delegates.

log_jammin: I have a bad feeling this could turn into the florida recount mess in 2000.

no chance. this is simply a meeting of the R&B committe to determine how to split the Fla Mich delegates. they can only allocate 50% of them by the rules. so in the best best case scenario for Clinton they will give her the ratio as is from Fla @50% and an even split with Obama in Mich @50%

Hillary can then decide to accept it or appeal to the convention they be seated in full. if she does the undeclared supers will then move en masse to Obama and give him enough that it doesn't matter whether she gets all of them or not she still ends up short.
in which case she has no argument and has to concede.

She would be wise not to force their hand. But if she does we then know that this is more about her than the Dems winning in Nov.
She would make herself even more of a pariah in the party.
Her political career would in effect be over. Their legacy trashed.

No, under the current rules they aren't counting ANY of the delegates.

I'm not convinced that she cares. I don't think she ever had any interest in being a senator, it was always a stepping stone to the presidency. I'd bet that she will just retire from the senate if she can no longer use it as a path to greater things.

So, under those circumstances, why leave any possibility on the table?

log_jammin [TotalFark] 2008-05-31 09:41:43 AM
I agree her running for the senate was just a way to get to the whitehouse. And that's why this bothers me so much.

I can see her doing WHATEVER it takes to get there. Its like schermans march to the sea...only if he did it while fighting for the south and a month after the war was over.

captain_napalm 2008-05-31 09:42:43 AM
does obama have the necessary delegates yet?

no?

then STFU - she has every right to pursue the nomination.

Hillary is the biggest sore loser in history.

log_jammin [TotalFark] 2008-05-31 09:58:47 AM
And I have every right to point out the she is put for herself and that most of the people saying "she has every right!!!" are right wing dickheads such as yourself.

Oh....and who do you plan to vote for captain_napalm and why?

I've yet to cast a vote for either McCain nor Obama. sure beats the people who tell pollsters they're voting for the black arab guy just to feel good (due to social pressure from you PC types), then do otherwise in the booth.

I have not called you either a dick head... nor have I accepted the fact that you seem to feel that since I have an opinion and it is not shared by you that I am a "pussy".

So I will ask you: Who do you plan to vote for? Not who are you going to vote against.

I ask this because you have raised the issue that only under pressure from PC types, would a white male such as myself wish to vote for a black man. I simply wish to understand your thinking on this issue.

Thank you.

My question was who are you GOING to vote for.

But its ok...I understand its much more difficult to support a candidate instead of just lying about the opposition.

Apt description. It's the Russian armies burning the fields... with the peasants still in them.
