this is the epitome of strawman. spend months building up a false argument on your opponents' behalf (that obama is the "messiah"), then tear it down.

ndotseth 2008-05-29 09:57:42 AM
he could become just another liberal politician

Many have viewed him that way all along.

Blues_X [TotalFark] 2008-05-29 10:03:50 AM
And if you can't trust a commentary by Karl Rove, who can you trust?

BritneysSpeculum [TotalFark] 2008-05-29 10:04:42 AM
It's farking Karl Rove. Does anyone expect reasoned objective analysis from him? Except for partisan assclowns that is...yes ndotseth, I'm looking at you.

gilgigamesh 2008-05-29 10:12:47 AM
I know Obama is not the messiah. And I am getting really sick of being called a cultist.

itazurakko [TotalFark] 2008-05-29 10:21:14 AM
Meh. It's the "last throes," surely.

Cyclometh 2008-05-29 10:22:38 AM
The only people who have referred to Obama in those terms are his most implacable enemies. It is somewhat unsurprising that they would now turn to destroying that image without acknowledging who attempted to create it in the first place.

The good part is, nobody but the mouthbreathers are buying the bullshiat this time around. At least not yet.

Oh, surely it's all calculated. Carefully build it up, then have fun torching it, a la "Burning Man."

Funny thing is that it's the opposite of the usual "The Democratic Party is only NEGATIVE, ever, never positive! They only tear down what they don't like, they never get optimistic, that's the Democrats' problem!" mantra.

I expect there will be lots of negative campaigning from now until November, simply because the Republican candidate seems to be a settling on the best of a not-so-liked field. (Why there wasn't someone there that really got a lot of positive support, I don't know.)

Yeah, Karl Rove. We can trust an essay by this guy. He doesn't have any biased agenda he's trying to push. This Establishment pit bull should be neutered and thrown in PYITA Federal prison, not out running around spewing more right wing, rich guy propaganda from his blowhole.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2008-05-29 10:53:31 AM
Christ, Karl...you accuse him of parsing and then you parse down to the subatomic level?

I'll give Rove this: he's consistent. Take your own flaws and project them on the opponent.

I don't know why any Republican or neocon would even give him a passing thought anymore. He totally failed the party. His "permanent majority" is now a laughable idea. And in his work to achieve it he's destroyed the Executive and Judicial branches and reduced the Constitution to a quaint notion. Considering he encouraged the White House to conduct itself as if it were in a permanent campaign, he lost it.

He has ruined your country and your party. You should be breaking out the tar and feathers instead of parrotting his same old tired partisan nonsense.

Diogenes: I don't know why any Republican or neocon would even give him a passing thought anymore. He totally failed the party.

i really don't get the "he's an evil genius" thing people say about him. i think he's evil, but i hardly think he's a genius.

working for the "conservative" party, in an america where conservative was/is almost considered the default position, he eeked out a 50+1 victory against a weak ticket that was battling for it's own base against a popular third party candidate, using only the lowest lowbrow tactics, and all in a election that went to the cards.

given that SOMEONE had to win, the victory he brought about was far from impressive. he's not a genius, he's just the guy who got the lucky side of a coin flip, mostly because of the work of those who came before him.

Loyalty trumps competence in Bush's house.

Methinks that suddenly folks are realizing that maybe the black man might be able to win...

Oops.

Diogenes: Loyalty trumps competence in Bush's house.

i know... i'm talking about the democrats who seem to have some type of frightened reverence for his alleged genius. it strikes me as a way of not admitting that they deserved to lose against what is ostensibly a trained monkey in 2000 and 2004 because of the weak campaigns they ran.

basically "if he beat US, he must be a GENIUS!"

Demetrius [TotalFark] 2008-05-29 11:40:38 AM
Well that does it. I'm not voting for him now.

Thanks, submitter!

Karl Rove?

No thanks, I get enough bullshiat on a daily basis, so I don't need any supplements from the WSJ opinion page...

mediaho 2008-05-29 11:45:50 AM
Thank you for letting me know that the caricature you created is not based in reality. Where would we be without the incestuous amplification of the right wing echo chamber noise machine to distort reality and then helpfully bend it back?

semi on topic, i was just walking back from lunch and we passed a tv with fox news on, and we all stopped and started laughing.

a very serious looking reporter, under her the words

BREAKING NEWS: Barack Obama is now using Nicorette gum.

it was a simultaneous group facepalm of epic proportions.

Maybe but McCain is old and old people should be mocked, ridiculed and ignored because young people know everything.

Or something like that.

This is why I only watch Fox News. They find the important information and they aren't scared to share it with you. Much unlike MSNBC, or CNN.

sounds fine to me.
can't be worse than the alternative.

Kurland 2008-05-29 01:04:32 PM
The vast majority of Obama supporters don't think and never have thought he was the messiah or that he will magically fix everything. We just happen to think he is the best choice for President of the ones we are being offered and that he will be a decently good President which will be a welcome change over the crap we have put up with in the last few administrations, particularly over the presidencys of Clinton and Bush jr. Thats it people, thats why most of us support him.

Only if my kids were psychopaths with no sense of morals and a complete lack of empathy.

Here's an idea, right-wing people. How about you start telling us all how great John McCain is and why we should vote for him?

Didn't think so.

depmode98 2008-05-29 01:05:02 PM
Karl Rove is probably going to go to Jail if the Republicans lose control of the White House and its pardon powers.. so yea.. I think he might be slightly biased.

Obamorons just love to shoot the messenger.

Has "57 states" Obama gotten his facts wrong? Uh, yep.

Suck on that one, Massholes.

Fark no. But I would trust his political analysis. There is no one smarter than Rove. I think he's being fair. He has no dog in this race. If you think he's truly for McCain you Obama voters are dumber than I thought.

dogfood 2008-05-29 01:06:59 PM
Obama is clearly not the messiah.

He is the lamb.

LocalCynic 2008-05-29 01:07:41 PM
I look forward to President John McCain, who will spend his first few months in office looking down on civilians or non-career military officials, while telling people that "citizenship means service." Oh, and don't forget, he's better than all of you because HE served.

John McCain: elitist, condescending, self-serving.

Anything that tubby little Poindexter says, writes or whistles can be construed as an attempt at obfuscation. He is like smog, squid ink, a hamburger smeared across a camera lens. A living, breathing version of shiatcock.jpg.
