There are pockets of "rich" for certain, but as an ex-resident you seem to be overlooking that 40% of the population lives in cities (Bridgeport, Waterbury, New Haven, Hartford) that are not exactly middle class nirvanas.

Fairfield County, with the exception of the Bridgeport area and much of Stamford/Norwalk, has gone Republican in recent past.

I used to be a Joe fan because he knew how to get more than our fair share of pork. But now that I'm on the outside looking in, it's fairly obvious that a lot of that goes to defense and particularly to EB and Sikorsky. Without EB, the whole SE corner of the state would be unemployed and homeless, save for casino workers. Once Joe fails to get appropriations for EB, he's toast.
