(Contact Music) Stupid Simple Minds: Once upon a time, up on the catwalk, this band was alive and kicking. After 27 years they are now returning in the studio, so you won't forget about them. Expect reel to real cacophony   (contactmusic.com) divider line 17

If subby had only managed to work in All The Things She Said he'd have gotten all three of their hits into that headline.

What, the royalties from the soundtrack of The Breakfast Club not enough?

Weird, I pulled out some of their sheet music this past weekend and played an acoustic version of "Alive and Kicking". It actually sounds pretty kick ass acoustic.

How about that.... I forgot about them.

Crap! Didn't read the headline closely enough.

I love Simple Minds. What's so stupid about a reunion?

Try some of the Big Country stuff while you're at it - my best friend worked out an amazing version of "Chance."

They'd better have sanctified themselves, otherwise I don't care if they promised us a miracle.

Saw them in New Orleans in the mid-80's. Good show. What's the worst that could happen? Hopefully, for everyone involved, if it sucks they'll just put it on the shelf and walk away instead of putting it out anyway -- until that happens, I'm holding off on the "Stupid" tag. Wonder how Jim Kerr's voice is? That's a pretty important jumping off point.

So maybe I'm a bit fuzzy on math here, but 2008-27 = 1981. Article says band split in '91. Is this the new math I've heard about?
Would love to see them. Alive and Kicking is one of the greatest songs of the '80's.

They didn't write it, so I guess not.

Their hits, Alive and Kicking, Don't You Forget About Me, All the Things She Said, Sanctify Yourself. Plus they had a bunch more hits in the UK and elsewhere.

Also they're a pretty good band, their drummer in particular is really good. So how exactly would it be stupid they're going to make another album?

which a lot of people don't know. Also they didn't really want to record Don't You Forget About Me, their label kinda told them to do it. Got it recorded in like three and a half hours.

I like everything they did BEFORE they got really famous with their "hits."
