If your ship is attacked in the middle of Lake Michigan, I feel sorry for you. if your ship is attacked in these pirate area, where it has been going on too long, serves you right.

Ships need to avoid those areas. If the local economies collapse, people there starve because no food is shipped in, fark them, they deserve it.

When will they start sending in decoy ships full of Marines, that would put some pirates out of business permanently.

A year or so ago there was a story about Somali pirates accidently attacking a Naval vessel. I forgot what country's navy, but they had no trouble taking care of the pirates.

Simple solution:

Q Ships

Of course, some libtard will say it's a violation of the pirate's civil rights.

This sounds like a business opportunity to me. Adventure travel is big business. People pay good money for a little excitement and danger.

Introducing The Q-Ship Cruise. Explore dangerous waters in a heavily armed but disguised Q-Ship. If and when the ship is attacked, passengers will be the opportunity to repel borders with live weapons.

Choose your weapon in advance and receive training of any of the following (custom weapons may be available with advance notice)
* Hand Grenades
* Grenade launchers
* Sniper rifles (Very tricky on the open water)
* Assault rifles
* Heavy machine guns
* Light Cannons (limited availability)
* Shoulder fired ship to ship missiles
* Or just bring your own armament.

Disclaimer - Death or serious injury possible. Passengers are responsible to their own insurance and ransom payments.

/What do you think? Anyone got some investment capital gathering dust?

Count me in...as soon as I win the lotto as to afford such a vacation. Or just buy my own boat and become a pirate hunter. After my ninja training, of course.

I'm glad I read tfa before posting, I thought they were talking about intellectual property piracy. I frickin' hate real pirates though. They prey on people in a situation were there is little defense and no help close at hand. I really think a lot of merchant vessels should be armed to the teeth with a few .50 caliber, deck mounted machine guns, hand guns for the crew, and heavy duty armored doors to sealed crew compartments.

-- Mars Odyssey "bent-pipe" relay of transmission from Phoenix, with engineering data and possibly including first images, 6:43 to 7:02 p.m. Data could take up to about 30 additional minutes in pipeline before being accessible. If all goes well, live television feed from control room may show first images as they are received. The first images to be taken after landing will be of solar arrays, to check deployment status.

Dear Tard

I write to you in the hope this finds you well.

I'm happy you've upheld the Fark tradition of unrestrained comment on things you are able to display complete ignorance and incompetence.

The Q-Ship idea and letters of marque on the other hand propounded by others are worthy of merit and the organization you want to contact is the ITF and INTERTANKO, not necessarily in that order.

/tard don't feel bad, just think tanker - Aden - gas pump and how much fewer snacks your Mom can bring you when all those tankers have to go around the Cape of Good Hope.

I'd like training on the heavy machine guns, please. Assault rifles I think I can get the hang of.
