54: Never refer to any comparitive ethnic studies class as "I hate white people 101."

Sadly, that is what most of those classes have become. My friend made that observation in frustration over his Japanese history class focusing more on white people than the Japanese. I had it happen in a Native American Studies class.

It's all true because I read it on the internets.

But the fact that you don't see anything wrong with a guy being strung up for not clarifying that he meant his clan, not his Klan, is beyond stupid. Fine - he shouldn't have said it that way. But the complete breakdown of reason, of all the opportunities missed that he might have said "I'm Scottish, dammit, I meant my clan," and that he was punished in that way... the fact that that's ok with you should make you completely ashamed.

If I believed the stories told there, I would think that sometimes stupid people get into positions of authority. I think that's a universal constant, like death or taxes.

Considering the number of times that race is pointed out though, I'm not entirely sure I can believe the stories. I'd like to hear the other side, but unfortunately that probably won't happen.

First of all, you have a farked up view of equality.

Second, I don't buy your example. Those areas are more off-limits for economic reasons than racial ones. If you're talking about gang-land territory, you'd just as likely get jumped or killed if you were a rival gang of the same race. it's not racial discrimination.

Black people compose roughly 12% of the American population and, frankly, I think they have more to deal with on a national scale. There's black-on-white racism, of course, but it doesn't compare to what most blacks have traditionally faced on a routine basis in the majority of the country at large. Or Jews, latinos, gays, or what have you.

I'm intrigued about what context the guy said "nuke the [Japanese] farkers" in. His story might be B.S. (Especially given his long-winded retelling of the story.
