Once they found out Clinton wasn't going to win, they had to do something. I've said it before: if not for the internet, we'd have President Clinton pt. 2.

Hi. I create Republican attack ads, work for the McCain campaign, and also pretend to be an unbiased talking head on CNN, so I'm getting a kick out of these comments. . .

DIAF, CNN

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2008-05-25 02:18:55 PM
wow. just wow. Way to give up pretending to be neutral CNN.

SphericalTime: ...pretend to be an unbiased talking head on CNN...

He's identified as a "Republican consultant" and "Republican strategist." Don't CNN also have Democrat strategists? How come libs aren't crying about that?

Because the "Democratic strategists" don't actually work for Obama or Clinton. They work for the party.

Personally, I don't like either. If you've got talking heads whose entire purpose is to defend one point or another, it makes for a boring conversation.

I'd rather watch the occasional episode of Meet the Press.

I guess CNN wants to put their hat into the "Fair and Balanced" ring...

CNN has had Glenn "Douche me, baby" Beck for like a year, and people complain about this nobody?

I'm guessing it's because Glenn Beck isn't an official McCain employee.

This is nothing new, they have the smug Campbell Brown who constantly takes digs at Obama while softballing Clinton supporters. And she's supposed to be an impartial news anchor. Bring back Rick Sanchez's Out in the Open.

And Lou Dobbs has been unwatchable recently with his tirades and faux outrage he perpetuates against Obama while leaving Clinton and McCain untouched. He constantly brings up the "Democratic Led Congress/Senate" in his tirades despite none of those bills he despises could be passed without Republican assent.

As Clinton leans further to the right, so does the so-called Clinton News Network.

Who the fark watches CNN anyway? I'm really certain it actively makes you stupid.

McCain should be worried- Bob Barr just locked up the LP nomination. The sixth and final ballot is about to counted on CSPAN, and he's sure to win.

Good we need a lot of conservative faces on television to win this election. I mean the media won't be giving Obama a free pass anymore, instead they will give McCain a free pass because he revealed everything to everyone.

missiv 2008-05-25 06:13:17 PM
9/11 did change everything, news worthy that is. I decided to leave the crutches of our wonderous MSM and I ran to the light burning from the Internet Tubes. CNN has sucked for a long time, sad.

If not for the internet, we might still have investigative journalists. Not that that's necessarily bad, I just kinda liked papers and the evening news, back when it was news.

Whether you agree it was really better or not, most Americans believed that their news reporting was truthful and relatively un-biased in the '40's thru the early '70's.

/Not saying it's true.
//Or untrue, for that matter.

I was born in 1980, no wonder I don't remember those time. News has always been infotainment since I was old enough to remember.

That's probably because we see the past through rose-colored glasses. The reason we see that the media sucks now is because we have the tools (the internet) to allow us to pick it apart and analyze it exactly like TFA does.

So...if you gave me a choice between now and going back to the days when William Randolph Hearst could essentially stir up an anti-hemp/marijuana frenzy (to protect is own personal financial interests, by the way) and, through a series of fear-mongering articles, force legislation benefitting him to be passed...i'd choose today's media in a heartbeat.

Anybody else think they did this so that they would have a scandal to cover?

Bacontastesgood 2008-05-25 07:08:08 PM
It's been what, a month since the whole pentagon officials being introduced as independent analysts scam was revealed, and absolutely no major news outlet will pick it up. Because it makes them look like shiat. Why should this be any different?

Bad as the government is, the media is farking garbage. I would be ashamed to admit I worked for any major network or cable news channel. I've programmed them all out of my channel lineup because they're worse than useless.

I doubt the news nostalgia, but I do think it is worse today than say ten years ago, just because 24 hour news networks try to find something to talk about 24 hours a day, as opposed to half an hour or an hour a day. The copycatting that we're used to gets worse as the non-stop networks frame the issues.

I've always wanted to try this experiment...

Start a network of blogs and "news" sites that just report outright lies, but refer to each other for confirmation and backup of the lies and see how long it takes for a 24hr news network to pick up one of the stories.

Maudite 2008-05-25 08:38:05 PM

I occasionally watch CNN for two reasons. Robin Meade and Linda Stouffer.

CNN is like Fox News and MSNBC got thrown into a blender the shiat that was left over is CNN.

They don't mention that the analists that were all over the democratic races all were on Obamas payroll. So this sounds about right.

As much as I hear of these supposedly "fake libertarian" Republicans, I don't really see a whole lot of them, on FARK or elsewhere. Almost no one who identifies as a "libertarian", or even that supported Ron Paul, that I know of is supporting McCain or any non-libertarian-minded Republicans.
